I'm just noticing that this list is 6 female artists/vocals (.5 for The National and .5 for Bodywash), 7 if it doesn't matter the exact portion of the group.so far everyone's list is very different. I wonder what will be the common album that we'll see come out on top.
20 - The National - I Am Easy to Find
20 - Hatchie - Keepsake
20 - Julia Jacklin - Crushing
10 - Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
10 - Bodywash - Comforter
10 - White Reaper - You Deserve Love
3 - Angel Olsen - All Mirrors
3 - The Tallest Man on Earth - I Love You. It's a Fever Dream.
2 - DIIV - Deceiver
2 - Big Thief - Two Hands
In 2018 my list had 6/4 female to male artists.
2017 was 6/4
2016 was 4/6
2015 was 4/6
2014 was 2/8
2013 was 3/7
2012 was 1/9
2011 was 1/9
2010 was 1/9
I think slowly over my years of listening to music I'm growing out of the systematic misogyny that comes with being a 20 something who's into indie rock. Also men in Indie rock are just not doing as many things that are exciting as women.
Coincidence that 2015 was the year I joined the [redacted] forums? I think not. But no thanks to [redacted]
