I have been enjoying this season, but on a sliding scale. My expectations started to change as I saw how quickly they were going to have to wrap it up. The writing got goofier and/or campier, but that started at least a couple seasons ago.

I liked most of how it all went down, and I never guessed Bran would end up on the throne. It lacked a bit of emotion overall, although when they placed the crown on Sansa and chanted 'Queen in the North' that was a pretty great moment. I loved Arya's ending too...she seemed out of place back home.

I don't think it's ridiculous that Jon didn't take the throne and rule, even with his heritage. He never wanted it. Now he can go hang with the free-folk and make babies. Maybe Ygritte has a sister. Although I had a brief fun thought that Drogon would take him where he took Dany and we'd find an entire island of dragon eggs. (Didn't Drogon disappear for most of a season?) Then we could have Dragon Island - A Song of Fire and More Fire

Who loved The Sopranos ending? Or Seinfeld? Not 100% that's for sure...so no matter what, there was going to be a percentage of detractors. It's hard to say goodbye to a show you love. But wow, some people are pissed. I saw a Redditor that said he just wasted 8 years of his life. That's just.......silly.

Also Drogon knew Jon was part "dragon" and didnt want to kill him because of it.

I actually thought he would torch Jon but we would find out he can't be hurt by fire.

Wasnt the greatest show in any stretch of the imagination but fk I loved it lol
And seeing the OG S1 spartacus at the end after he IRL died was so touching.

Did anyone else feel like the Jon stabbing Dany seen wax pretty emotionless. It was just kind of like ok... That just happened. Drogon showed more emotion than Jon or Dany.

I did like how Dany was trying to tell a cute childhood story and Jon was in no mood.

Yeah I did a bit too, and this is really the only thing sticking with me as a major flaw the next morning. I think again they were going for the whole "twist" aspect of it per usual, and as a result made the act more of a quick stab than the melodramatic Shakespearian moment it was trying to be thematically. I felt it was a bit of disservice to the character (and I've been fine with all of her storyline) especially as the Drogon scene itself while great, wasn't really focused on her.

The nights watch is destroyed and there are no pressing reasons to bring it back since there are no more white walkers and the North is at peace with the Wildlings.

The free folk that now live in and control Castle Black. Wasnt that part of their reward for helping fight the Night King?

And they closed it because that's what you do with gates? I mean I'm sure they dont want all sorts of wildlife making its home in their castle

Overall I liked it. It was a sad episode and rightly so. We’d seen the horror of it, of someone her supporters and tv audiences had been rooting for all this time be corrupted by her power. This episode was the aftermath, the mourning period where those supporters had to decide whether to go along with it or do something about it. Jon’s doing it and doing it before she could do anything else also made sense. He’s the only one who could get close enough to her and I’m pretty sure the thought of someone else killing her was not something he could face. Yeah they’re not the greatest actors but I felt for them. It was a good moment.

It was really fun to be around a big group of fans for the ending. People gasped, people cheered, many were in costumes with shields, axes, and cups/horns for beer. It was the best Irish Pub food (ohhh that scotch egg) I've had too and the staff were lovely.

I also enjoyed the last two episodes and agree with everyone that the last two seasons would have been better with a full run of 10 episodes.

Overall I liked it. Was hoping they would do a "future jump" type thing, kind of like the Six Feet Under finale - which we got, just not very far into the future - so that was cool. Great cinematic shots (the dragon wings, Jon holding Dany dying), great moments echoing back to previous seasons (snow in the throne room, Arya on the boat). I think the immediate criticisms of the season in general will fade over time and it'll hold up.

They should have just had Jon wearing a gray coat so we know for sure. It woukd be a much better ending if he was going North permanently.

I think in American culture, in general, there is too much emphasis placed on having a totally wrapped up ending, leave something to the imagination, telling me what happens to everyone leaves little for me to ponder on afterward (I liked the small counsel wrap up, showing things don't change and thought it should have ended there though the Arya going off to new things does give us something to wonder about what she will find)

Yea they both got out acted by a cgi dragon because they are two of the worst actors on the show.

Kit and Emilia aren't terrible but compared to everyone else they do have the most silted performances, too bad Peter had so little to do in the final seasons

Even when he was making silly decisions there for a while, Dinklage was consistently the best part of the show. Nothing will ever top Tyrion's trial, for me. That was where the show peaked.
