Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

Mother-in-law is currently sewing cloth masks for my wife. My wife is researching which furnace filters to buy so she can hack them to fill the cloth mask. THIS IS WHAT IT IS COMING TO!

I really hope those furnace filters contain any cancer causing particles in them should fibers become loose after cutting them apart.

Really scary what we are coming too.

20 years ago nearly all the supply of masks our healthcare systems used where made right in In American. Fast forward to today and they are all made in China.

Just heard CNN talking about that suppliers in China all are requiring 100% of payments upfront before manufacturing the masks ordered.

They said usually deals like that are considered scammy and avoided. But there are no options. It's pay upfront or miss out on the masks.

This will lead to the likelihood that several orders go unfulfilled despite being paid for upfront.

It came from some Union leader that CNN was interviewing. They didn't say if it was per-capita provide more details than what I mentioned above. The focus was more on putting urgency on our government to act.
Fair enough I suppose. I disagree with the tactics but it's difficult not to blame that person for being desperate.

The UK is sending out notices that say anyone 70 years of age or older should stay indoors for the next 12 weeks and avoid contact with anyone.

The younger population, who are less vulnerable will be allowed to continue along as normal.

'Normal' bar the closing of pubs, bars, restaurants, leisure centres and the ending of all sporting events. They're still strongly discouraged from going out.

So it seems the plan of attack is keep the elderly in isolations, and let the young people keep the economy running.

Rich western Countries are much much much more unlikely to issue stay at home orders for everyone as the economy is more important than the human lives lost.

It's less to do with that and more that the orders won't stick until the situation is a clusterfuck. As has been noted, with the partial exception of the self-employed, everyone else in the UK is underwritten by the state- we're essentially nationalised. It's not a monetary thing, it's an honest appraisal of the attitude of the population as of today. As of this time next week, they'll probably be ready to do as they're fucking told.

Just heard from people who live in Ohio that their Twitter feed is now full of tweets about the Governor being a dictator, you can't me and so on now that he has issued a stay at home order.

People really need to follow the instructions. The US is now on a worse curve than Italy. This is serious.
