The Official Needles and Grooves 1001 Album Generator Project (aka Preachin’ about the Preachers if today’s selection sucks)

THEY’RE NOT EVEN MENTIONED IN THE USELESS WIKI PAGE @avecigrec LINKED!!!
It's just not a very informative article, but they are mentioned in passing here. I love what Daevid Allen did in his career with Gong and solo, but the Soft Machine stuff is not something I'm nearly as familiar with other than a listen or two. @LeeVing might be able to give more of an overview on this than I can.

Caravan is good stuff.

To be honest, I really don't get into what "scene" bands come from. They usually have a certain sound that appeals to me though. I do love Gong, Caravan, Soft Machine...those are the big 3 of the scene.

And then you had the solo work of some of the members of these bands. Steve Hillage and Kevin Ayers seemed to release some pretty popular albums on their own compared to the bands they were in.

You can try to follow this -- but like I said...incestous

They couldn't even include Gong in this or it would be twice as big.
