Television

This is the Marvel Society, everyone needs something to happen at all times. White Lotus is structured like an 8 hour movie. If there is a climax at the end of each episode, it would be just be Lost or 24.
I've been seeing general online murmurs that this season is too slow; I do think there's a lot less incident than previous seasons, the characters are a lot more in limbo than previous seasons. But it feels like it's by design, and Mike White's writing with such assurance that I haven't minded.

There was some rotten listicle I got sucked into off the headline "10 things wrong with this season of White Lotus," or whatever, and I stopped at "We don't get to see Fabian's song;" the author felt ripped off that we get several episodes of Fabian fretting over the idea of taking the spotlight, then we don't even get to see if he's good. But that seemed wholly intentional; all this buildup and the show casually cuts to the girls' trip trio bickering. It ruled. It rules.

Funny enough, I often find the foreshadowed violence to be a silly red herring, like one-armed Crispin Glover in Hot Tub Time Machine; there's some extent to which we're being had, and the violence is dangled before us. My only real guess as to what'll happen in the finale is each gunshot is from a separate confrontation/incident, and the body count will be rather low.

Agreed, and many were
probably frustrated with the lack of violent resolution with Goggins' character in his confrontation, but I felt that was character growth and not just violence for the sake of violence
. I'm sure there's someone complaining about that somewhere.

My theory is that either the dad is going to put the poison fruit in his sons smoothie or the raid in the into of E1 is for the Russians

I have to be honest, I broke down a bit at the end of episode 8 of The Pitt. I haven't done that in a while.

I think it had been building in me starting with the siblings who had to let their dad pass away. I went through that with my dad and those old wounds got reopened a bit. Then the honor line for the braindead teen and the little girl dying. It's my worst nightmare as a parent and it just all hit back to back. That's how good this show is. You can completely put yourself in the shoes of the people who experience the tragedies. My wife asked me if I was okay as she said I hadn't reacted like that in a while to something.

Drag race has me HEATED!

Suzie didnt do well this episode but I still feel like she is the clear second best of the season a deserves to be in the finale. She did better than Jewels alls season, has more personality and is more captivating than Sam and has confidence unlike Lexi. Onya is the clear winner so it doesn’t matter in the long term but Suzie not being in the finale is a crime

@Fleetwood-Matt I keep forgetting you are not on the West Coast. We are getting ready to watch now but I am now anxious. I will reply in earnest once Untucked starts up.

You are so convinced I am on the west coast, maybe I should move out there so you will finally be right about that

The critiques for all queens felt disconnected from reality. I see enough gaslighting on TV, I don't need it from RuPaul!

That being said, I was totally okay with the result of this episode because I was getting sick of that queen.

I really do love all of the top 5 so any one of them I would be sad seeing go. But I love the eliminated queen and thought she was clearly a front runner rn

WTF!! This is the correct take, the two top queens all season were Onya and Suzie.

I have no clue what Ru sees in Lexi. She has fucked up numerous times and every time she shits the bed Ru just laughed it off. My SO made a good point that about midway through the season, after absolutely loving everything Susie had done prior; the judges just turned on her; even though she was just as good as she had been earlier they stopped giving her wins.

A couple other things, first the makeup critique drives me crazy. It’s all clown make-up at a certain point. Danny Beard or Gottmik both had distinct and over the top makeup and they received minimal criticism whereas Suzie actually showed versatility throughout the season and wasn’t behold to her signature style. It’s bullshit.

Lastly, I am not usually a fan of “cerebral” queens, as I feel like they are trying way too hard to convince people that they are smart whereas Queens like Bob The Drag Queen are clearly smart but don’t have to keep telling everyone (Sasha Velour is one of my least vas winners ever) but I have been rooting for Susie in spite of this because she is funny and talented but also, this has been the biggest group of “mean girls” since Rolaskatox were absolute shit heads to Jynkx Monsoon. This made me hope Susie could spit on their corpses in the finale just like Jynkx did.

I haven't really loved this season, to be honest. Probably one of my least favorites in a while. I tend to favor the weirdo cooky queens or the ones doing some real out there stuff and a lot of those queens left super early (Lucky Starzzzzz, Lydia, etc). Something about Suzie has rubbed me the wrong way from day one. It was wild hearing Sam called arrogant in the critiques last night when Suzie all episode is saying shit like "I've dominated this competition" and what not. She is talented, I'm not saying she isn't, but I just have no impetus to root for her because she's totally up her own ass.

Lexi feels like she's overstayed her welcome a bit and been given a free pass on a lot of things. Onya's talented, but her drag can be hit or miss for me (though hearing her story on how she's basically a part time drag queen makes me epathize a bit more there), Jewels is reality TV gold but can't say I recall a single runway look or challenge performacne that's wowed me. Sam is probably my favorite of the bunch because of how polished her drag is, but she's also clearly borrowing a ton from her drag mom so it's almost not fair to judge.

At this point I'm just kinda waiting for this season to end and All Stars to begin.
