I absolutely loved this GI Joe set and now Skybound has a Kickstarter up for a Compendium of Marvel’s original Transformers run. There are a few different options. There is the complete US run, the complete UK run (I guess they differ in that UK started running extra issues each month which caused it to diverge from the US version), and a version that blends the US and UK into one massive compendium. I pledged for the US compendium. It isn’t scheduled to ship until December but if it’s as good as the GI Joe set it will be worth the wait.
Yeah, it’s pricey. I really love their GI Joe set. Though, I wish there was an option to just purchase a single compendium. The GI Joe Set was 4 books but they allowed me to purchase just the first book, which contained issues 1-50 by itself, if they allowed me just to purchase book 1 of the Transformers US version issues 1-40 for $80, I would have gone that route. I don’t need all 80 issues but ultimately I was hoping they would do this set so I’m happy to support it.
I love the art style from the 80s and 90s it’s all so busy and bold. I have X-Men Compendiums Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 and when you combine that with Transformers and GI Joe, that really accounts for a good chunk of my comic book, toys, and cartoon intake as a kid. I probably need a good TMNT series and I will be set.
