What's Spinning

Orange Indie 35th came the other day. Decided to open and compare to the new 35th black. FWIW I think on my two 35th copies the black had a bit more ambiance and soundstage but both sound just fine to me. Music and song writing is just so good. Highly recommended.

Then I fell deep into the well and pulled out the other early pressings. Played 1st side of a couple versions including a Promo on translucent audiophile vinyl. They sound great also. Even a bit better from an audiophile perspective. Grab one if u get an opportunity on a nice copy. :-)

So is the Promo version the best of the bunch?

Yes/Maybe from a pure audiophile perspective of US versions I’ve heard. Great sonics, soundstage, and quiet background. Or the std OG SP pressing is excellent. It is almost as quiet with a touch more warmth. Either way they r great if u see one. I found both new/old stock at dif times within the last ten yrs so they are both like new.

But, I still have my 1st copy bought new. Played it countless times. It is an Allied Pressing. Remarkably it is in great shape but has a minor bit of audible wear/noise. It has a special nostalgic value so in truth I often grab it.

I guess I need a couple early EU pressings b4 I can say definitely. :-).
