Vinyl Me Please Anthology

So does 8 12" liner note prints mean that like bn there is a page per record? I'm just surprised that in these high-prized box sets they have these very good writers providing less content than your classics booklets or the great liner notes booklet of the jorge ben jor

i am actually legitimately thinking this is a good idea and we could actually jokingly do a longwinded podcast for at the first "batch"

like i can join a DM group and we can come up with this unofficial box set
This would be pretty awesome, but I don't know that my Dischord Records knowledge goes deeper than say, Q and Not U. Which makes me way more qualified to do the podcast than Storf was for Blue Note, which may be a problem?

dont worry.. i only know like 3 artists

and we only need one modern album

we just need someone to curate the more obscure albums

Mary Wells - $60
Marvelettes - $112.50
Supremes - $8
Tammi Terrell - $32.50
Syreeta - 19.30
Tata Vega - $3/$4.5/$3.88/$17.50
Teena Marie - $6.08
Badu - $16.57

Edit: Total Discogs Median price $272.45

Might do best reasonable pressing research for the pricey ones later.
I guess the Mary Wells, Marvelettes and Tammi Terrell have only been reissued in 1981/1982 (not counting EU grey market for Mary Wells).

Can't find much info about it. I'd be surprised if they weren't AAA that early in the 80s but can't find and sound quality info.

That lowers to:
Mary Wells: $7.50
Marvelettes: $26
Tammi Terrell: $15.50
If you're willing to go for the reissues on those three total median price lowers to $116.50.

All I’ve ever wanted is a pressing of Please, Mr Postman. Was it a confirmed guess on this? That’s the only one I’d ever want. Do you think it would get a repress later on?

Please let me know.

EDIT: you can tell how excited I am by my lack of firing questions.

Hmmm, maybe Beefeater - House Burning Down

Could we do half Discord albums? That way we can have SS Decontrol, Soul Side - Less Deep Inside and the Reptile House 7"
@johnpisme should we do it? i feel like this should be a good spotlight for a developing punk scene. maybe even do what VMP did and do each record by subgenres of punk

Please find whatever subgenre Q & Not U fit in.

I got the box. I really like all the predicted picks (thanks @TCell)! The only pick I’m a bit ‘meh’ on is the Erykah Badu pick. But then, I’m looking forward to spinning the current pressing I have against this VMP pressing!

Expensive box but I thought why not. The music is right up my alley and I think I’ll absolutely love it! 😇

Happy your happy dude. Enjoy 👌🏼

apparently on wikipedia it would be most fitting in a dance punk description.. or we can just use it as our "modern album".. though if we are really doing this we better keep it secret so its a surprise what albums they're getting

I mean, don't get me wrong, I danced harder at Q & Not U shows than ANY other band I have ever seen live... and that description fits....

But "modern?" Those albums are almost... holy shit, 20 years old? Fucking really?
