  • What outer sleeves does everyone use when a gatefold is just slightly too big to go into a regular sleeve? Got the new Sufjan, it doesn't look like anything other than an regular gatefold but I just can't get it to go into any sleeves that I have.

They seem to work well up to the double gatefold 5 panel Paul’s Boutique I had to go with the extra large ones for that and yeah it’s a bit loose but it cover the entire album which is ultimately what I am looking for.

I find the Mofis are stretchy enough to fit around the larger gate folds. I’ll have to report back on The Ascension, I haven’t washed mine yet.

    Mofi outer sleeves?
No matter how many times I listen to Mew "And the Glass Handed Kites" it will never get old.
Asking for a friend (really). Are there any alternatives to a 4x4 kallax? They've had it on order forever and apparently Ikea has major delays.

I scanned the reviews of that Better Home & Gardens. I'd feel better if I saw one stuffed with records.

I get scared of stacking up the cubes (I have a 1x2 and 2x2, because I feel though they are very similar to a kallax I get scared it will break

Walmart! The better homes and garden ones are what I use. I love them.
I seriously don't think I ever have an 80 minute block of time in a day to spin a record. Why Sufjan???

I like long albums (if they win me over). Cause then it’s like a crazy journey from start to finish. Haven’t heard new Suf yet but I think I have faith he can do it? Age Of Adz is long but honestly my favorite album by him. I love getting to Impossible Soul at the end. It’s one of my favorite album closers period.

Age of Adz is my favorite Sufjan album as well. My only real problem with long albums is my limited spinning time each day. For the record, 5 songs into the new one and I'm REALLY liking it so far!

@dbarila yep I get it. I gotta specifically find and set aside time for something that’s over an hour. And that’s mostly weekends. But those times of listening to something long all the way through is a nice treat...when it happens.
Is that actually Moses Sumney in Xfinity Mobile commercials or just someone that looks and sounds like him. My mind can't decide.

Looked it up, and yes, it is him.

Where did you find it? I looked all over and couldn't find any confirmation. Seems like an odd career choice to cover "Go Your Own Way" in a commercial for a giant corporation. But I guess in a pandemic ya gotta pay the bills.

I found the video online, but it’s 100%. Unless they stole his appearance.
Anyone have Doves "Kingdom of Rust" on vinyl? I may have located a copy below Discogs pricing but the reviews on Discogs aren't great.

I have it but I have never opened it. I assume you are inquiring about the pressing quality. Mine is OG, there was a reissue earlier this year.

Yes the pressing quality. That was actually the only one that wasn't reissued. The original UK pressing is the only one as of right now.

I have the OG and was just spinning it last night - it always sounded good to me - never noticed any issues.
Reporting my neighbor's Trump "No More Bullshit" sign to my HOA is one of the more satisfying things I've done today.
After being in a shoegaze mood this weekend I just want to say that Slowdive's discography is flawless. That is all.

Like, I can't say I love any of their individual albums as much as some of the other shoegaze bands' bests, but each one is perfect while I'm playing it. (And unlike some of those bands, there are no drops in quality)

Just be aware that Pygmalion is pretty different and a little weird. If you like Souvlaki you'll enjoy Just For a Day.

pygmalion borders very close to post rock but more in the talk talk sense of a ton of silence and ambiance and negative space.. its a beautiful album though
Ugh! Doves webstore cancelled my order for the red vinyl, most likely because my bank though it seemed like a fraudulent charge. The email said if I still want it I can place a new order. That's kind of hard to do when they are sold out of the red vinyl and don't have the bundle with the t-shirt anymore.
What do I do if I got a bad pressing from Bandcamp? Contact band camp or the label? My Mid-Air Thief is super noisy on side B.
By dumb luck I've really been getting into New Order lately. Tell me everything that I need to know!
A new Charlie Kaufman film coming to Netflix? Yes please!
Is The Comet Is Coming remix of Carousels included in the Doves box set? I can't seem to find a tracklist.

The very few picture discs that I have all sound fine. But I understand their overall reputation. My biggest pet peeves with picture discs is that there's no sleeve to look at.

I've avoided the singles for this album so far. What's the excitement level 1-10 based on the singles for Doves' fans?

Just a follow up on this because I got both copies now. The blue sounds pretty nice too except my side A has a lot of random pops and clicks throughout. The one main difference that I noticed is that the deluxe has better channel separation. The blue sounded more centered. Either one is worth owning and the blue isn't a big sacrifice on sound.

Thanks for the update @dbarila. I just got my blue version today, did some needle drops for some quick QC and I liked the way it sounds. I wish my copy of Dogrel sounded this good! I'll have to listen more attentively but the first few tracks I played through were pretty quiet (and I listened on headphones). The deluxe version must sound great on headphones with even better separation.
It took me all weekend to realize why the latest reissue of Parachutes is on yellow vinyl. Only about 71 hours and 59 minutes longer than it should have.
Just catching up after the weekend. I feel like this Sufjan tracks is long just for the sake of being long. Could be a 5 minute track easy.

I was hoping it was going to be like Impossible Soul in that way cause I really love that song. So in that department it does disappoint a bit

I like it well enough and think it will be a great closer. I suspect it got pegged the first single due to the narrative and the proximity to 7/4. Just a meandering thought. I am excited to hear more though!
Come on VMP! I was free and clear. But I will be needing that Spiritualized. (If there's no standard re-issue to follow that is)
How do I stop seeing Facebook ads for the Honey Harper exclusive? Don't need to see it a thousand times a day.
More weird Doves sounds on social media. Need info on a new album now!
