  • People are weird man. Last night I was at a Ween show where the entire crowd felt like a family and would pick eachother up when we're down. Then I wake to see news of people trampling and stepping over eachother to rush security for this shitty festival (which already has a reputation for this behavior). Diffrent crowds I guess.

Ps. The most violent crowd I ever saw was Kanye West at FYF 2015. Same sort of thing, elbowing, shoving, no regard for human decency. Then he brought out Travis Scott and it turned scary violent. Me and my girlfriend at the time went straight for the exits, which was really hard when a stampede of people is pushing the other direction. What about Travis Scott makes people act this way?

I am also interested in why this seems to be popular at Travis Scott shows. I’m not sure if I’ve ever listened to him unless it was on accident.

@scotthilk He's the type of performer who is CONSTANTLY hyping the crowd up. Violently dancing on stage and encouraging the crowd to "turn up", call for circle pits and moshing, that sort of stuff. Now this is all pretty common in the Metal community, the diffrence being that it's a community, and people will always look out for eachother. Travis crowds don't give af about eachother
I hate hate hate hate this Chappelle controversy, and how every transphobe in the world thinks its okay to be vocally bigoted since "Even the big liberal comedian's doing it". Bigotry flying left and right everywhere I look.

@DJSJ y it sucks how all of this is being leveraged by people to fuel whatever their agendas are. It's so weird. I don't know what DC really believes or thinks but failing to recognize how his actions (associated with his status and privilege) are harmful and hurtful is really lame and dangerous.

@DJSJ I don't think DC is responsible for other people's shitty behavior but not recognizing how his words and actions are being used is some weak sauce and irresponsible... this isn't new info to him or anyone else and failing to recognize ramifications at this point is unacceptable

Anyone have a go-to place for cheap wall art? I'd love a Pollock or de Kooning; something to stare at while I spin records. Trying to find the middle ground between cheap and decent quality.
Something about Timothee Chalamet screams "trust fund prep school douche" to me and I have a hard time watching any film where his character is supposed to be likable. Just me?

I been told the new Dune really lags, I will wait for streaming, watch the original and read the book.

I personally think he’s great, seems down to earth, and he’s very talented! Think there has certainly been worse industry heart throbs lol

He may be the product of a privileged family, but he's still one of the most talented come-ups of the last decade, IMO. He doesn't really appear to be an asshole either, and seems like a decent guy.
TFW you realize you never turned off the amp last night and its been sitting on all night and all day. How bad did I mess up?

Unless its a tube amp, its fine. even then its just life time of the tubes lost. Some types of transistor amps will draw just as much power when doing nothing as when amplifying, but even that is likely not a significant amount of power.
TIL theres a whole theorized backstory for the characters in the 3D animated Grubhub ads. There's a wiki. Its intense. The Dad

    good for you
Nobody told Disney to make this a banger, they just did.

I wonder if that musician Montero wishes he picked a different name. His music must be buried right now.
Word of advice: Don't order straight from Superior Viaduct. Ordered some records over 3 weeks ago and still havent been able to get in contact with them over an off-center pressing. Radio silence on all ends.

What was the defective album, if I may ask?

The Fall - Grotesque (After the Gramme). Been beefing up my Fall collection and they pressed almost all of them and are very well done. I have several and this is the first pressing issue I've had with them. Also got a Spacemen 3 album in the same order that is pristine. CS is their Achilles heel it seems.

They were very responsive when I had questions about my screamers order.
The Met Gala is like a game where ultra rich people try to be as rich and gaudy as possible while still trying to get the 99% to look at them with awe. I hate it and the commentary that surrounds it.
Really on the fence about my first concert since Covid on Friday. Don't think I'd have this anxiety if it were the type of show I could stand in the back and watch peacefully, but its a melodeath/metalcore show and there will be lots of moshing/screaming/people in close contact. Hmmmmmmmm

@nolalady I am, and I just checked the venue site and they'll requite vaccination proof, no tests accepted. That makes me feel a bit better, leaning towards going. For the record the lineup is Black Dahlia Murder, Rivers of Nihil & Carnifex :)

@DJSJ if you aren't living with anyone who is immunocompromised, you are vaccinated, and the venue requires everyone else to have a vaccine, I would feel okay with going.

I’ve been to two shows recently like this and both also required people to wear masks (not sure if yours will though). Granted, you could remove them to drink something, but i felt like requiring vaccinations and also masks was a combo that made me feel pretty safe, even in close proximity to a lot of people indoors.
Somebody tell Awkwafina that stage name isn't doing her any justice as a serious actress.
Apartment hunting and I found a great unit for an amazing price on craiglist. Got directed to the landlord and this guy's insisting on a $700 deposit (refundable) BEFORE giving a tour of the unit. This is a scam, yeah? Starting to get red flags.
So Deafheaven kinda suck now. That's a real bummer.

As well just because the band decided to make a shoegaze album instead of blackgaze doesn't mean they suck now 🙄

Idk if I would say their new stuff sucks, but it's definitely bland and uninteresting, which is not something I could say about anything they've released before.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that I'll need to hear the whole album to judge new output. A few times this year (Julien Baker, Half Waif, Lump, Japanese Breakfast) I've felt a bit let down with singles, and then liked them - if not grow to love them - in the context of the album. The only Deafheaven single I've really loved is the latest, In Blur, so I'm willing to give the others a shot in context.
