Kappy's is good but @Colonel_Angus is right, D&C is the place to be. It's been forever since I had an XTC...those were the days.
First time with a new cart and needle. I hear it takes time to break in. What am I expecting during this time? Is it supposed to sound like complete crap or just a little off or... Any info is appreciated.

Digital scales are pretty cheap. Under $15. Pick one up - your stylus and suspension will thank you. Even a cheap one is better than just eyeballing it and proper weight will definitely impact sound and playback. And check it periodically after it breaks in.

I do have the measurement on the counter weight, but I do want to be precise. Blew my budget on the cart and headshell so it'll be a few weeks before I can get the scale. Good advice on checking it after break in, I didn't think about that

For the measurement on the tonearm to be set correctly, you have to zero it first which you can probably eyeball but you’ll want a scale to verify sooner than later. Too light and that stylus rattles around in the groove like a luge taking life off your stylus and records; too heavy and you’re wearing out your records and suspension unnecessarily.
Has anyone tried to broker a deal off of Discogs? Like contacted the seller and asked to just paypal them so you could both bypass the 8% fee? I wonder if they watch for messages like that. I'm thinking of trying this, but don't want to get banned for it.

In this case there is no one taking offers. I thought I would message them anyway to see if they would be open for it then the thought occured that I could entice them about saving the 8% bit.

The fees all go to the seller, so how would this benefit you exactly?

@Melt Face Molly Drop I'm sure the seller figures the fee into the price, I know I do. So if it's $45 I could offer $35 and he would technically only be knocking off $6.40 because there's no fee.
Have you ever had a Discogs seller seem like they don't want to sell you something? I inquired about a poor record sleeve and got some extremely standoffish messages back. Really weird
Anyone know how much a single LP should cost to ship from the UK to USA? Thought I'd ask here before making a post. Thanks
