  • The prices on this ORG Jeff Buckley have gotten absolutely out of handddddd. Wanted to splurge and treat myself but nevermind.
Last year my wife and I chased Nils Frahm to Berlin for our first European vacation ever, it was an amazing experience and incredible way to explore a new city. We continued last years theme and are officially chasing James Blake to Paris in September. I can't wait!
New episode of my existential radio show just went live on Spotify: This week is all about The Goldilocks Effect, Les Sins and Emile Mosseri's new album! Check it out and give it a follow :)

What are you using to put your radio show up on Spotify?

I record in Descript, chop it up in Audacity and then upload and distribute through Anchor!

I was trying to get one up and running through Anchor a couple of years ago. Even bought a nice microphone, but couldn't really get anything put together that I liked. I had an internet radio show on last.fm from 1999 through at least 2006 or later and always enjoyed doing it.
Am I the only person here who listens and raves about Puma Blue? Dude's music is so nocturnal, moody, and tasteful.

@kvetcha I would start here and then go hit his latest album, I frequently revisit this performance. Wonderfully arranged and recorded, also beautiful to watch if you feel like it.

Hey y'all. Just released my first podcast episode as a companion to my written newsletter. Kind of plays like an existentially burdened neurotic has his own radio show lol. You can expect, existential ramblings, stream of consciousness, quotes to consider, songs to study and albums to live in! If you want to follow along I'll be trying to put them out weekly.

anywhere else to listen outside of spotify?

Unfortunately not, due to the full songs and albums embedded in the podcast it becomes exclusive to Spotify since they front all the licensing and copyrights for you.

Apple Vision Pro is going to be $3500. Audio upgrades are officially on pause until I buy that thing.

If it works half as good as they claim in that slick promo video, it'll be a world changer. Now they just gotta make it look less like stupid aki goggles 🤓

Wild stuff, I def have better expectations than Oculus as Apple has their shit together a lot more than Facebook (Meta).
can’t imagine the damage to the eyes long term tho

at 57, my eyes are well-f**ked, nearsighted since grade school and now with progressives for close up, I don't really fear any damage from those devices, although I can't afford one so it's kind of moot.
Where do I start with Prince? What albums are worth a listen?

No love for the self-titled here?? That’s one of my favorites probably but as others said hard to go wrong with many of his records

Agree with wokeupnew on Dirty Mind being a good entry point, it got me hooked on Prince too. On top of the other albums already mentioned, I regularly listen to Originals, which collects songs by Prince that he gave to other artists.

I’ll echo Dirty Mind, it’s the one I return to most frequently, and it‘s some serious F-U-N-K. If you want more musically diverse material, you can’t go wrong with either Purple Rain, Parade or Sign O’ the Times.
Someone posted a quote a while ago that was kind of about the romance of running errands instead of having them done for you. Feel like it was Bukowski or Vonnegut? Anyone know what I’m talking about?
I’ve tried to enjoy Weyes Blood for years now and now I’ve finally accepted the only song I like by her is Andromeda.

I respect her voice and her craft, the music just doesn’t move me for whatever reason.

She’s really popular in Brooklyn. There’s still time.

Her voice reminds me a bit of a nice mix of Aimee Mann and Anne Murray. It’s a beautiful instrument, but I do find a lot of her songs blend together. Her cover of Dylan’s ‘Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands’ from that Uncut issue comp is really great.
Its official, we're moving to Brooklyn in April. Now to pack 550 records for safe cross country travel. All tips are appreciated.

I had about 1200 stored for a few months this past summer. Uhaul small boxes worked perfect, stacked no more than four high.

I agree with the Uhaul Small box - they fit records great - and you can return boxes you don't use...as long as they are still flat and not folded into a box.

I haven't used them for that long of a move, but they should hold up fine.

Thanks for all the helpful tips y'all! Just saved me a lot of stress.

@MadLucas I'll be hitting your dms, lets do it!
Trying to limit my record spend to $115 a month while I plan and execute a move from LA to NYC in April of this year. All killer no filler, stocking up on Acoustic Sounds and other audiophile labels. Less VMP 🕺. Wish me luck!

Congrats on the cross country trek - exciting! Reach out anytime if I can provide any advice or perspective, I lived in NYC for upwards of 15 years.

I appreciate that @HayesWeighsIn , I can definitely use a list of record stores haha. I’m actually from NYC and left about four years ago for LA, ready to make my return lol. Didn’t have a record player when I lived there though, so a new era of crate digging begins

Unfortunately, not quite as bountiful as you’d think! Strangely, Rough Trade has moved to Rockefeller Center (I know). I’d say the best three shops right now are all in Greenpoint, BK - Academy, Record Grouch, and Captured Tracks. Also if you are into punk, hardcore, etc at all - you must visit Limited To One on E 10th St in the Village.
Accidentally left my turntable running with my Hana SL looping in the run out groove overnight lol. Must’ve been 10-12 hours >_>
    Why JohnnyCashFan? WHY?!?

He seemed somewhat sensitive and likely not comfortable with confrontation. I remember once early on he posted all these movie posters in the movie thread without any comment, and I just asked why because I didn’t really get what was going on, and he seemed to think I was making fun of him.

I only bring that up to say that I’m sure he feels embarrassed by the situation and am guessing that he felt too intimidated to try to apologize or explain. Not saying that that’s the right approach at all, but sometimes it’s easier to talk yourself out of coming clean by assuming that people won’t give you a chance to make things right.
