I remember when Trout Mask Replica was the Vault for TMR, and absolutely scoffing at the price, not to mention how much I disliked the album. Fast forward 3 years, having listened to Zappa and a ton of avant-garde jazz, I see Trout Mask in a whole new light. It is a masterpiece.

Soooo happy to receive my Orquesta Akokan early. They are my favorite band currently putting material out on Daptone. The level of musicianship displayed is jaw-dropping. Mambo musicians young and old, from Cuba and NYC. Truly a fine fit for the “soul” label.
The new Parquet Courts album absolutely satisfies. Love the groove on this thang. Good work boys!
Yesterday was a much better day. The band, Hooveriii came by the shop and chatted and hung around for a bit, which was super fun. A couple members are also in Grave Flowers Bongo Band, to which I had no clue, but I am huge fan of their last record produced by Ty Segall. What a cool experience! All of the guys are super sweet, now I am bummed to miss their show.
Got kicked out of a local bar because my ID is expired. Sucks too because my friends were there and we were about to play our records. Didn’t even try to order a drink, the bartender just called me out over the bar. What a terrible night. I know my ID is expired but I have never had a bartender scream across the bar to get my ID.
Talk Memory is an exciting leap forward for BBNG. This record is their most mature and realized material to date. For them to cull Laraaji, Arthur Verocai, and to record at Valentine Recording is mind-blowing; the magic is definitely here. The Memory Catalogue accompanying the release is also A+ supplemental material. Issue #2 on Arthur Verocai is great read.
