  • Had a whole box, the same size used to ship my albums, filled with warped records, and packed tight. Left them in the box since moving in May, and after taking out a handful of them, no more warp!! Hello Harvest - Neil Young 😎

Anyone else love Lego as an adult? I still collect minifigures as well as various small sets that seem fun, but recently got the Seinfeld set and its making me want to sell some records and buy more Lego 😅

We have a large room in the basement we call “The Lego Room”. I have most of the Creator Expert Modulars, the kids have made a city out of them. The kids collect Architecture sets, Star Wars, Avengers, Technic, etc. And out of all the sets we have, I think my favorite is the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine.

My nieces gave me the dinosaur fossil kit for my birthday last year, had a lot of fun putting it together. Usually get a tiny set at Christmas too. My brother in law loves it, he buys a set a month to put together and then the kids play with it.
Norm was criminally misunderstood, rarely ever breaking character. If you were familiar with him, you know how nobody was off limits, including himself. He was incredibly well read, and loved art. I don’t think we ever got to see the private side of Norm Macdonald, but if you look at David Letterman’s final Late Night broadcast, we can catch a glimpse into the sensitive guy that was under the facade.
I agree with @scotthilk about One Day In America. It’s a really well done doc that I recommended to anyone wanting to fully grasp the scope of 9/11. Thanks for the recommendation.
Spent way to much money at Paved Paradise yesterday, but got 8 LPs and 3 7”. Some fantastic deals and OOP Secretly Group stuff at these things, glad to make it!

Did you happen to remember if they happened to have Oh You’re So Silent Jens? What OOP stuff did you pick up?

I did not see that Jens album! :( Mostly just OOP variants of stuff, like a bunch of VMP and TTL editions like Græ and Mordechai from Dead Oceans.

I scored A War On Drugs - Lost In A Dream TTL edition, Sharon Van Etten - Tramp (Rough Trade Edition on red vinyl), both for $10 a piece, as well as a bunch of Numero Group titles that I needed like the Escape From Synth City 7”, Silkscreen version of Joanna Brouk’ Hearing Music, and the exclusive Numero pop-up LP, 2533, a collection of soul demos.

Going a little too hard listening to Superman: The Movie's score lol. Anyone else love that movie as a kid? I truly thought a man could fly watching Chris Reeve and hearing this score.

@LeeVing I agree! other than a few pops and some surface noise, I thought it sounded pretty good. My stylus seems to be fairly revealing on some things, so I can't complain. Glad I picked that up + the Shining 7" , which sounds killer! My main complaint of Mondo is usually the sound anyway, so my expectations were low, admittedly.

Yeah. I wish they would actually cut lacquers rather than send digital files to GZ. Some still sound pretty good, though. Waxwork seems to be cutting mostly lacquers lately, so their stuff has usually sounded better to me.

I remember being in band in middle school and playing the main theme for graduation as the kids walked in. I'm sure we didn't play it for 30 minutes in 100 degree heat, but it's sure how I remember it. Great score, but that's the memory that's wedged itself in place around it.
Anybody else order the Courtney Barnett “From Where I Am Standing” live album from Blood Records? Ordered back in December with barely an update.

They will switch vinyl colour to transparent due to unavailibility of cream coloured pellets and will ship soon(ishly).
$350 FOR AN INVITE TO A "SOFT OPENING". LMFAO. MY DUDE.
Does anyone have the color 45 of ORQUESTA AKOKÁN "MI CONGA ES DE AKOKAN" that Daptone put out on their store? I totally spaced it and need it bad.
I am almost a week into having a new puppy (10 weeks old now). She is definitely amazing, but also a handful. My first puppy. Anyone have any tips on raising pups? I have done a bit of research online, and got her going the bathroom outside, but she is definitely not as easily guidable.

I like rolled up news paper with rubber bands. It makes a good pop on the hand to scare them when they are doing something naughty. Also vinegar in spray bottle if they chew on things. Also also nose in the tee tee when they have an accident inside

having another dog in the house is also a good thing. This is my first time having 2 dogs at the same time, and this puppy period seemed a lot easier than the corgi was on her own.

Aww, a wee cutie. Definitely hit up the Cute Animal Thread! We walked out the room anytime our puppy bit us. It took time, but he got there. As well as grooming I’d try and get them used to you leaving the house and being in a crate (if you have one). It’s great fun, Joff is my first dog and I love it/him.
Any recommendations for Chicago? Here for my birthday and already hit up Reckless Recs. yesterday. Food, fun, and record stores are welcome!

If your there any longer this week try Al's Beef, Ray Mazarek's father used to take him there when he was a kid.

I haven't been to Chicago in an age, and I know the pandemic has things a bit jacked right now but if there's any live music going on that you feel safe attending that's the place to be. Blues clubs and bars galore (if they've survived the apocalypse) to choose from.

It's been quite a few years since I've been there but check out Hyde Park Records if you have the chance. And Happy BD!
Do any record store owners here (or anyone that can help) have the promo print for the new "ARETHA" (2021) boxset. Its a picture of Aretha with geometric backgrounds multiplied by 3. I desperately need this print and can't find anyone with them!
Did anyone else score The Feeling Of Love EP by Shintaro Sakamoto yesterday? Feel like I got extremely lucky and got one. Had those singles on my waitlist for too long!
