A friend of mine was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 48 in Tulsa on Friday night.
I'm sharing this because, for the few minutes it takes to listen to it, she's still around.
Awesome. Just awesome. The one RSD I really wanted and purchased this morning: Tori Amos's "Little Earthquakes B-Sides." Just got notified from discogs that the seller was a scam artist. Only copies I can find now are three times what it would have cost before.
I know it's not a popular opinion among fans or even the band, but I think Lush's best album is "Split." I will never tire of one single note on that LP.
I now am the proud owner of two copies of Ivy's "Apartment Life."
One copy is so squished it is almost unlistable.
The other copy is less squished, but has run out noise and extreme vocal sibilance.
So glad I waited for 25 years and weekly did a Google search to see if this album was going to be reissued only to have the final product be so very disappointing.
I finally broke down and listened to Destroyer for the first time yesterday (the most recent album). I loved it. But do I really need another band to rabbit hole?
I have finally found a record that leaves me at an impasse.
Musically, I absolutely love it.
But I find the guy's voice far, far too aggressive to enjoy the songs. On the fence about selling it...
I was not prepared to lose Wayne Shorter this year. Beyond being a fantastic soloist, his compositions literally influenced and changed the jazz landscape and language of songwriting. Make no mistake, this lost is tremendous.
I have posted about 120 records for sale on my discogs and sold roughly 20. I can honestly say, based on what has sold and what has not, that I clearly have no idea what is in demand.
