Algiers "There Is No Year". Here's an album I completely forgot came out in 2020. Maybe we should have looked at that title a little more closely when it came out in January?
My top played song on Spotify this year was Bad Decisions by The Strokes, but the number is small (7) so I really played a wide variety of music. The most surprising news is that I'm apparently a "tastemaker", having added ~860 followers to my playlists (I apparently have 2 popular playlists which grew a lot more than I thought with followers).
I'm been looking to add a copy of J Dilla's Donuts to my collection... what are your opinions on a good pressing to get? Any particularly good ones? Any to avoid?
For fans of hard-boiled/noir/crime novels: "August Snow" by Stephen Mack Jones was a fun read. Modern Detroit gets a treatment similar to Washington D.C. in Pelecanos novels.
