I really hope The Finals isn't dying... it's just the most fun fucking shooter I ever played.

I know it's not going anywhere anytime soon, but wish it could figure out how to invite new players and grow the bigger player base or deserves

if you have any interest in a Free To Play, fast and fun as fuck, destructive to the max, objective based team shooter please so yourself a favor and give it a shot!

Indy is great!!

just started Avowed

just finished Psychonauts 2 (great!)
The file size for Indy is so big that I need to clear out my backlog first. Is it very Tomb Raider-y? I love the modern Tomb Raider games.

Avowed is so good!!! It took me by surprise since I didn’t really care for The Outer Worlds that much. That was a solid 7/10 game to me, but nothing more. In Avowed, the combat is super fun, the magic is awesome, two handed swords are super fun, mechanics feel fluid. It is a little bit of a go to the map marker, kill baddies and then come back kind of game, but it’s still fun and there aren’t never ending side quests.

Indy as far as I understand, is more of an exploration focused Immersive Sim like Prey or Dishonored. Not the biggest Indy fan, but I love that shit, and plan on playin when it comes to PS5.

I haven't played Tomb Raider since the very first, but it's nothing like that.

the actual gameplay itself is pretty good, if not a bit unremarkable in areas. it's a first person adventure, with a mix of stealth, action, platforming, and puzzle solving. it's gameplay and story is linear, but lots of optional side quests. but damn, and I'm pretty whatever in general about Indiana Jones, it's atmosphere, the vibe, the acting (good lord the acting is so good), the fucking up Nazis and fascists, and exploring different caves/sites/ect .. it's just sooooo good.

I played on normal, and outside of one or two difficulty spikes at the very end, I found the game to be right in my sweet spot of more fun than frustrating but not a breeze either.

the game throws a few different game styles with a few over the top action sequences, which are always fun and leave you wanting more.

I really do recommend it when you get the chance...it's on Game Pass and it's a Microsoft game, so it's not going anywhere. also, don't judge it from the first few hours/mission in the Vatican, it's not bad but it's easily the worst part of the game unfortunately... but after that it's a solid, fun ride!

This looks fucking insane. I should really revisit and finish the first.

I got the first on PS Plus but truthfully never played it. Maybe someday but it looks bonkers and the description of it being a walking simulator do not make me want to boot it up any more. Seems like something you either love or hate.

Still making my way through Nine Sols. I'm on the back end of the game, and just finished Lady Ethereal, easily the hardest fight so far. Looking online, most people rank it the #2 or 3 hardest fight in the game. Took some work just to get through phase 2, only to get one shot by the opening attack several times in phase 3 before figuring out how to get around it. Once you get it down though, it's damage central. Really struggled with one attack in particular, where she swipes her claws twice. Comes out pretty fast, and from my POV the timing for the parry is after the claws already touching you, I kept hitting it too early. She can do it over and over in the third phase too, so I had several deaths just from getting comboed to death.

Quick vid of the fight for anyone interested. Worth noting I had more heals and more health than this person did, so kudos to them.

This is the first I'm really seeing of this Nine Sols game. How is this not a clone of Hollow Knight?
I'd say it's a mixture of Hollow Knight and Sekiro/Lies of P. Has rechargeable special attacks (talismans), but instead of attacks recharging it, it's parries. Does have a similar upgrade system to the charms in HK, but also has a skill tree. Also has dodge dashing, and choosing between it and parrying comes into play a lot. Healing's done with flasks like other Souls games. Only abilities not on display in that video are the charged parries (used for red attacks) and the double jump.

Just beat Paper Mario 64 for the first time! I played it as a kid but never beat it and gave it more tries over the years but never made it too far into it. My problem with it now is the fact that its sequel TTYD is one of my favorite games of all time and it took everything that made 1 good and pumped it up to 20 on the sequel so going back to 1 it just feels lesser. I decided to play the first but wanted to try to appreciate it for what it is and not what it would be. I’m so glad I did because this game is truly a delight!
