Everything Video Games!

My kid (I mean, 27 but still) has been playing the new one all weekend on her PS5. She got me hooked on Rise on the switch, so I'm working my way through that.
Rise was really good at streamlining the gameplay a lot, the handheld team (the ones who made Rise) are putting out better MonHun games than the console team, IMO.

As someone who never got into open world games, I appreciate the separate smaller maps and more linear progression.

I picked up Rise w/ all the DLC on the last sale for under $20 on the switch. Looks like its back to full price now.

Yeah it used to be REALLY segmented (loading screens between each map zone and you had to *tag* the monster to know where it is). World opened that up a bit and Rise smoothed out a lot of the wrinkles. Wilds dips its toes into open world (more open world in a very constrained area, like the Yakuza games) and it feels like a first attempt in that respect. I bet the eventual expansion (there's always a spinoff game) will be better in this regard. I think waiting for a Wilds price drop would also mean you probably get the best performing and most content-rich version of the game.

I am big on RPGs so your comment made me go back and now I want a PlayStation... Damn. That looks great.
yeah like graphically it feels like this is an actual showcase of that PS5 hardware and we are finally getting past that phase of "ok we are mostly just making PS4 games with a little resolution uptick"

plus PS5 has a good amount of solid RPGs to it, specifically metaphor refantazio, unicorn overlord (also on switch), FFXVI, etc
