I finished off Halloween night with John Carpenterβs In the Mouth of Madness. Iβve seen this quite a few times but my roommate and our friend had not. Did they love the movie? I donβt think so, but they had fun watching it. Look, itβs not a great movie, but itβs definitely worth watching. Some nice Lovecraft vibes along with Sam Neill reminding us that he can be just as over the top as Nick Cage. Add in random heavy metal music that isnβt Enter Sandman but sounds enough like it that you wonder if Metallica sued anyone over it. (jk.. more like 3 1/2)
It's been so long since I've seen that one that I don't remember much about it.
I know that Shout Factory released a special edition on blu ray somewhat recently, so I may pick that up if I see it cheap.
I kind of gave up on Carpenter around this time...the movie he made before this was that Chevy Chase Memoirs of an Invisible Man - ugh...that was bad...but post-They Live wasn't all that great for Carpenter.
