All Things King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

Because I didn't want a Flightless copy this time and wanted Band Editions of each? So I got the Dark Butterfly from the AU Gizzverse and will pick up whatever the US has for KG. If both gizzverse sites had a variant for both it would have alleviated that. That's all.

I get what you are saying but you do realize that Flightless editions are band editions as well right?

possibly with KG as the names are the same, but there may be differences with the sleeves and/or labels showing a Flightless logo or not or something like that. the Live in SF are definitely different as the AU Band Edition is Glow in the Dark and Dark Butterfly which is different than Flightless' variants.

I mean, Eric isn't in the band anymore but I get the sentiment. I'm going to start getting the no label editions when possible since they are a thing now. I have castleface, ato, aural pleasure and flightless copies of the previous albums so I don't NEED Flightless copies. Will be cool to have the editions the band are doing themselves since that's a thing now.

Eric is still very much a part of the band albeit not in it. Flightless is still their label. Honestly this "band label" thing as well as the US/UK store with their variants is just the Gizz naturally capitalizing on their fan base and what they started with the low amounts of Flightless variants over the years and their resale markup. Its been a natural progression which is fine. They started selling more copies of flightless variants and now they are branching out even further. Its a gimmick to call it band edition rather than flightless but hey good for them. Milk it as much as possible for as long as possible.

Happy you feel that way. I don't buy multiple copies so they aren't milking anything for me. IMO they are just hurting flippers and hipster fans.

I don't think we really know how much Eric is part of the band or not at this time. but he's definitely not playing or managing them anymore, so not sure that he's still very much a part of the band. I would assume that they still have a fine relationship and that he could come back if he wanted but even that is an assumption.

Actually thats not true. I know of a few people who know Eric and have spoken to him as well as Stu etc. He is very much with them. I mean cmon, he left to run the label THEY ALL CREATED. They are all still friends and they are all still connected and working together

Let me say it again. Flightless is a record label started and STILL OWNED by the members King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. They aren't undercutting their own label aka their own profits with other variants. Its all in the same ecosystem.

Do we know if variants other than AU and Flightless will come with the stamped outer bag? The recordstore.au one says it will but I know in the past it was only Aussie pressings

Yeah, I've got Bandcamp open waiting for a US drop to hit and I am listening to the 4 singles. I was not a big fan of Straws in the Wind when it first released, but I think it fits in just fine. I played them all through while I was working and it's exactly what I want from a King Gizzard album, so far. A nice tone that I can get into their groove and just stay there for the duration.
