I feel you. Its helps me when I read the lyrics while I am listening the first time or two, and that will somehow unlock my brain to allow me to hear the words, if that makes any sense LOLIt’s funky, only issue I have is an issue I have with a lot of their stuff... vocals need mixed higher, I’d love to be able to understand the lyrics a bit more. Besides that, excited to see how it fits into the album.
I’ve always been a lyric reader so I get that 100%, just a minor complaint!I feel you. Its helps me when I read the lyrics while I am listening the first time or two, and that will somehow unlock my brain to allow me to hear the words, if that makes any sense LOL
I totally agree too, the lead synth line that doubles the melody masks the vocals a good bit.I’ve always been a lyric reader so I get that 100%, just a minor complaint!
The video definitely adds to it, but this didn’t grab me a ton either. I like it. I like how funky it is. Joey wasn’t playing when he said this next record would be divisive.I didn't love this one upon my first listen. I don't think it's a bad song and it has nothing to do with the style, though I kind of wish it wasn't Microtonal again right away. I just didn't love the song itself too much and the mix just should be better, especially the vocals.
I hope it grows on me and I didn't listen while watching the video which may help with the overall enjoyment.
if the album with this track is their most psychedelic then it has nothing do to with this track, it's definitely funkier than it is psychedelic. comments on Reddit are saying how the last track on KG flows right into this track, so it probably is safe to assume this is the first track on the next album. Is this the record Stu was referring to when he said the next one would perhaps be their most psychedelic?
Not sure if I want to check the song out...

Then again, thinking about it, “Honey” was not really indicative of the overall sound of K.G...and thinking about it I’m not sure what song on there would be; so needless to say, this could be that record. We’ll have to wait and see. They’re always full of surprises.if the album with this track is their most psychedelic then it has nothing do to with this track, it's definitely funkier than it is psychedelic. comments on Reddit are saying how the last track on KG flows right into this track, so it probably is safe to assume this is the first track on the next album.
I had the exact same thought on my first (and still only) listenOkay, I caved.
I think this is definitely LW.
That transition into the actual song is purely “The Hungry Wolf Of Fate” guitar tone, so yes, spot on.
Anywho, sounds to me like the microtones found their way into Sletches Of Brunswick East territory, yet different at the same time.
Dig it.
Already have that melody stuck in my head.
ha ha - same thought again. I though that maybe we'll have a microtonal Sketches (though Sketches does have microtonal songs), but then remembered how after listening to "Honey" I thought that KG was going to be microtonal PMDB, which obviously it's not. Then again, thinking about it, “Honey” was not really indicative of the overall sound of K.G...and thinking about it I’m not sure what song on there would be; so needless to say, this could be that record. I just listened again while watching the video and it's definitely a really cool video. I still don't love the song but I liked it better the second time around.I love this microtonal/Sketches theory. And the idea of it flowing from the last track of KG, which I don't know that I ever would have noticed.
I will say I thought the title of KG was a little odd. BUT now I have other thoughts.
Maybe this will be Vol 3 of the microtonal trilogy, and this album will be titled LW. So the trilogy would be Flying Microtonal Banana, KG and the LW. Stringing that all together feels right.
But that's something I was able to think of through a logical progression, so it's probably very very wrong. Because I never know what to expect from these guys, which is what keeps it exciting.
I will say I loved this higher production video though. Really happy to see that area step up for them.
So are we placing bets on a release date or what?I enjoyed the song and the video. Looking forward to more from this album!
Love that mind fuzz variant
