April 2021 Challenge Thread

I usually post something I have sitting here new, but believe it or not, it's been 17 days since I got a new soundtrack in the mail - and that was the soundtrack for "The Fountain" - which I played the other day.

So I'm gonna hit random on my Discogs collection and the first one that pops is it.

I usually like Gary Pullin's artwork on various soundtrack sleeves, but I just don't like this one. The phone in the mouth just looks a bit cheesy.

L'Impératrice "Tako Tsubo" (2021 Microqlima Records)

This one is packaged and feels like is should be the soundtrack for a French-Japanese sci-fi anime about love, heartbreak, cyborgs and... octopus. From the liner notes "Tako Tsubo" is Japanese for "broken heart" and literally translates to "octopus trap". It manifests itself by a deformation of the heart due to intense emotion. A French anime with cyborgs and octopus heart traps, yes please!

Clint Mansell - The Fountain

With assists from Mogwai and Kronos Quartet, Mansell takes us to the other side of death and back. (Also, thanks to @LeeVing for not playing this one, since I have a much, much smaller soundtrack selection to choose from!)

I did was what Lee did. Somehow my stack of to be played items has zero soundtracks in it, pulled this one on the first random and I am thrilled. Just chock full of great songs with a top flight batch of artists. And Maroon 5 is there.

Prices suddenly got stupid though. I blame TSwift

Since I played Controversy earlier in the week with Prince moaning and caterwauling his way through “Do Me, Baby”, I figure I should give the ladies a chance to get a bit freaky. Unfortunately I don’t have Donna Summer’s “Love To Love You Baby” or Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg’ “Je t'aime moi non plus” on wax the closest thing I have to a simulated female orgasm is probably the title track on this.
