Day 26: A? or B?
play an album where you vastly prefer one side/disc over the other(s)

Neko Case - Middle Cyclone

Since side D is literally 30 minutes of crickets and other nature sounds Neko recorded, I tend to play sides A-C more often...

Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic

I don’t think I’ve ever been a fan of Steely Dan but when my dad gave me his old turntable 20 years ago, for some reason my first thought was Well shit, I’d better go out and get some freakin Steely Dan now! and I went out and bought three of their records at the local used records shop, I came home and played “Black Cow” off Aja and “Any Major Dude Will Tell You” from Pretzel Logic, never played the third record, and that was it for Steely Dan. Until today. Thanks, Randomizer!

Day 28: In Full Bloom
Play a record that sounds like Spring to you

Super Deluxe - Famous

1A534984-E8C7-4D7D-A17A-3849AE5512AE.jpeg

A good power pop record is always nice for a sunny Spring day. In Western Washington in the 90s, this was one of those albums that you’d just expect to find when you’re flipping through someone’s book of CDs

Day 18 - National Poetry Month
R.A.P. Ferreira - Bob's Son Cafe

Perfect timing for this to have arrived yesterday.

this album is an ode to the poet bob kaufman
the inventor of frink and beat
the progenitor of abomunism
the chief bomkoff
connoisseur of oatmeal cookies

men do not know how that which is drawn in different directions harmonizes with itself. the harmonious structure of the world depends upon opposite tension like that of the bow and the lyre.
heraclitus, fragment 51

If you should see a man walking down a crowded street
Talking aloud to himself
Don't run in the opposite direction
But run towards him, for he is a poet
You have nothing to fear from the poet
