Day 15 - It’s tax day in the US. Spin any record or song that mentions taxes or money / finances or a record on the IRS label
Daniel Romano's Outfit "Too Hot To Sleep" (2024 You've Changed Records)
Southern Ontario's Daniel Romano normally plays a mish mash of countrified folk rock with psychedelic elements, but as part of his Outfit side-project, he goes pop punk / power pop. His voice has that Tom Petty-ish twang that goes great with the rambunctious energy of the record. The track "That's Too Rich" fits the prompt, with its theme of wealth inequality.
Day 2 - It's International Guitar Month. Spin an album that includes a favorite guitarist(s) and if so inclined, tell us why they're a favorite.
Masayoshi Takanaka (高中正義) - Alone
He's a S H R D D R with a beloved discography by both jazz-fusion and city pop listeners. If you can tap into both, you very likely have a place in my heart.
Time is Fire - In Pieces
I discovered this band while perusing Electric Cowbell's Bandcamp page.
I've been staying away from most impulse buys nowadays, but this one grabbed right away and I'm glad to own it. And the album is produced by Brendan Canty.
Day 4 – Spin any artist, album or song that repeats a letter in its name or title
Ashley Bellouin - Ballads
Not one I play often, but pleased when I do to decompress. Those who enjoy the works of JD Emmanuel, Kali Malone, and Don Slepian might find this engaging.
I think I found Thee Heart Tones in a recommended post on Instagram since I don't follow Big Crown as closely as I do with Colemine & Daptone. This was the first song from them and I loved it so much I went out and got the 45 & album!
Day 15: Taxes or Money
Parlor Greens - "Driptorch"
The b-side is a non-album jam called "200 Dollar Blues".
