I try not to preorder albums much anymore as I can usually find copies locally upon their release and many times have them sooner. I did preorder the new Momma album since it came with a signed poster and I’m happy so spin it since it’s one of my favorite albums of 2025 thus far.

I don't think I have anything on pre-order right now. But I'm probably wrong. I generally wait for a release to hear the whole thing so I don't get burned.
That being said, I did pre-order this "first pressing edition" based on one song (Starburster) and knowing absolutely nothing about the band at the time. Glad I did. It's fantastic and has become band that the 18 year old and I can bond over.

I've expressed my love for this album quite a bit here, but it's truly an album I can almost always listen to. (I almost played this for the 90s prompt.)

As preorders have become such an overpriced money grab and, more times than not, you can pick up the same music for substantially less a short time later, I've pretty much stepped away from the preorder game.

Colemine Records presents Soul Slabs, Vol. 1
The owner of one of my local shops, Listen Records, puts aside a copy of each new Colemine release for me when it comes out (not including RSD titles sadly lol), since I’ve been buying regularly from him for the last 5 years. Not a pre-order in the traditional sense but I don’t pre-order physical music. I’ve heard too many horror stories.

Ever since the kids started playing lacrosse a few years ago, I haven’t been able to enjoy the RSD experience of standing in line and talking about music with strangers, having to rely on the N&G folks or hope they can be found the next day online. I think this record have been the last one I was able to get in person.

The Weeknd "Live At SoFi Stadium" (2024 XO)
This one is from RSD2024. An excellent pressing and sounding live show! I've been a fan since the release of his House of Balloons mixtape, then straying for a bit, not feeling his first few major label albums, but coming back to the fold at the time of his Daft Punk collaborations. I particularly enjoy the synth programming on the songs from his latest records. And to coin @TenderLovingKiller® , he sounds like Michael Jackson (he did cover Dirty Diana on a mixtape) singing about fucking and cocaine. Hell yeah! One of the promises I made my daughter during the pandemic, when she became a fan, was that we would go see The Weeknd whenever he came back to play Canada. Well he's coming through this summer and tickets to a Toronto show are secured. Should be fun!
