They can be retipped! But yeah, finding NOS replacements will leave you hurting.Nice price, but the stylus replacements will kick your ass.

I'm in the same boat. When I take a breath and a step back from my systems and say ok, what's wrong with what you're hearing? The answer is pretty much universally nothing at this point. I have a pretty good understanding of how further dampening works in systems and what that yields sonically, and for many that's worth (tens) of thousands of dollars, but as you stated, that doesn't equate to further enjoyment in my lil brain.I've been on a new equipment pause for about two years now and I've learned a few things about my journey to-date. I'm finding that all the equipment I have now is "good enough". I could go for a flashier Luxman or McIntosh integrated, but I don't think I'd enjoy the music more. I have sufficient power and clarity from my speakers and amps to make anything but the priciest upgrades seem like a lateral move.
My last major upgrade was to put a new Luxman turntable in place of my trusty Traveler, moving the VPI to the office system. Although I could make a mountain out of the molehill differences between the two, I find the sonic performance of each to be equally pleasing in regular use. Even the pair of Hanas that I use on the turntables put me into a comfortable and incurious position regarding further upgrades.
I'm not swearing off upgrades forever, but it's calming to be over the multi-year bout of upgrade-itis.
I just ordered a refurb pair of the Px7 S2 from B&W for $100. I'm currently using the Senheiser HD599.I’ve had a pair for a little over a year and I love them. The only bad thing I can say about them is they made me hate my Sennheiser HD 599 SE. lol
These speakers don’t seem very popular. Is it because they are ugly or that they don’t sound that great for the price? Or both?$4,000 MoFi Sourcepoint 10's on firesale at more than half off ($1900) on USAM.
People who have heard them love them and the looks are subjective. All that being said, they are huge and the cheaper 8s are easier to fit into more spaces. These speakers don’t seem very popular. Is it because they are ugly or that they don’t sound that great for the price? Or both?
I think @Nee Lewman has a valid point about the size. You basically need room for a solid tower to really accommodate these, and the 888 towers are financially in reach at $5k. Plus there’s the temptation based on hype of the Wharfadales that come in at $3k, and even less right now. These speakers don’t seem very popular. I also wonder if it’s just a lack of brand equity. JBL, McIntosh, Focal, B&W… they all have speakers at this price point that are a more manageable size. And you might actually be able to demo those at a Best Buy or local hifi shops. With the Mofi, if it’s not at a show or through a connection, you’re most likely going in blind.

That bulge at the front isn’t the prettiest thing either.
I am really tempted to try these on the Music Direct stubby stands at some point like a pair of Heresy’s. Very tempted.I still reaaaaaally wanna hear these.
Good point. I’m probably still a little salty about how MoFi discounts their gear. I guess this is a business model. PS Audio seems to do the same thing.I think @Nee Lewman has a valid point about the size. I’m honestly hoping this happens to the Masterdeck at some point. I don’t $6k want it. But $5k… I’d give it a shot if I have the cash at the time.Good point. I’m probably still a little salty about how MoFi discounts their gear. I guess this is a business model. PS Audio seems to do the same thing.
If/when I get a TT in the $5K range it’s going to be a Technics1200G and that will likely e the last TT I ever purchase.I’m honestly hoping this happens to the Masterdeck at some point. I don’t $6k want it. But $5k… I’d give it a shot if I have the cash at the time.
i just want a swappable headshell...If/when I get a TT in the $5K range it’s going to be a Technics1200G and that will likely e the last TT I ever purchase.
I’m very happy with the UltraDeck and see no reason to move on from it anytime soon. Future TT upgrades will be cartridge related.
When I think of shopping for audio equipment, Needless Markup, I mean Neiman Marcus, isn’t the first place to pop to mind.My wife sent me this. Looks cool but crazy expensive I think. Brand name doesn't ring a bell.

It's like a Victrola for folks with too much money and not enough sense. But from the standpoint of just buying it for looks, I like it.When I think of shopping for audio equipment, Needless Markup, I mean Neiman Marcus, isn’t the first place to pop to mind.
I want this as well. Which is one of the main reasons I’m thinking of moving from a perfectly great UltraDeck.i just want a swappable headshell...
