It's really a shame because I rooted for, and I think most of us rooted for the Astros after Hurricane Harvey in 2017. That was such a great story for the city to rally around. But then the cheating scandal came out later on and they went from hero to villain instantly.
Yes, I was pulling for the Astros back then, but the scandal has left a bad taste. I was also pulling for the Red Sox way back in 2004, but they have found plenty of success (and also been caught cheating) to the point where I can't get behind them now.
The Brewers are my NL team, so having them lose to the Braves in the LDS would be a bit of a gut punch. The Guardians (fka Indians) are my AL team, so I can't get too enthused about the White Sox.
The Dodgers did win last year, but I'm not sure that 100% counts (for them or baseball in general). Playoff baseball with the stands mostly empty is a different species altogether. So in short, I would be happy for them to win a legitimate title.
That said, the Giants have been a great story and I'll pulling for them if the Brewers are eliminated. And I would love to see the Rays take care of their unfinished business. It feels kinda inevitable.
In short, while Brewers-Rays is my #1 hope, I'm betting it will be whoever wins Giants/Dodgers (which is going to be a total blast) vs. Rays.
