I’ve got a copy of that and the new Willie waiting for me at my local when I get back from vacation.Haven't been great at keeping up with new releases, but the new Bedouine came in early over the weekend and it is absolutely delightful.
I’m with you, American Love Call has gotten 14 spins and something like 50 listens overall.Tbh I think it's crazy that you've only listened to your 3rd favourite album of the year 3 times but hey you do you boo. If I find an album I love I'll usually listen to it in full daily for weeks on end
I wasn't really anticipating this one, but decided to give it a listen after hearing some hype about it and so far it's pretty good (disregarding a pretty bad anti-vax bar on "Palmolive" )
I really enjoyed it, up there with Injury Reserve and Little Simz as some of my personal favorite hip-hop I've heard this year. Freddie's voice and Madlib's beats just match so well together and they're both going at it *hard*I look forward to listening to this in the morning.

3 great albums in a years time will do that. Plus he was constantly good before tooWhen did Gibbs become one of my favorite current rappers?
Yeah he wasn't on my radar before Pinata. I mostly checked it out because of the Madlib association. I enjoyed the album at the time but didn't think it would end up being one of my favorites of the decade. Then I just kept listening to that and his other stuff more and more. Now with Bandana, I've looked up and realized I've been listening to a lot of Gibbs ever since.3 great albums in a years time will do that. Plus he was constantly good before too
Yea partnering with Madlib was the best decision of his career. Hes always been a top tier rapper, but theres only so much of a market for his style of gangsta/drug rap. Madlib pushed his sound forward all while staying true to his original aesthetic. They go better together than I initially thought they would, even though I loved each individually before Pinata.Yeah he wasn't on my radar before Pinata.
