Best Music of 2020

I don't think I've heard of them šŸ¤”

Colemine released retro soul band. If you’re familiar with the Kelly Finnigan album that was doing the rounds on the forum recommendations last year it’s his band. Enjoyable and good songs really well put together but a bit too safe and lacking originality to make the step from ā€œI really enjoy thisā€ to ā€œI think this is greatā€.

Albums I’ve loved this year so far

Moses Sumney - Grae
Laura Marling - Songs For Our Daughter
Bonny Light Horseman
Thundercat - It Is What It Is
Monophonics - It’s Only Us

Laura for sure. My AotY currently. I had no idea I would be as enamored with an album this year as her's had me.

It was mine too for a long time. It’s bewitching. She an artist that develops at such a rate between every release that I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next. The only reason it’s not number one is that Grae has blown me away not only in its ambition but in its ability to fulfill it, it’s an astounding achievement, I don’t know if anything will top it this year for me, if something does it’ll be another truly remarkable album!

The only reason I give Isbell an edge is topicality.

Listening to Jehnny Beth’s (Savages) debut solo album last night I’m very impressed. It completely uncompromising so it might take a while to sink in but I really enjoyed my first listen last night!

The new Sarah Jarosz (World On The Ground) is a really solid album with Pay It No Mind, Hometown, and Johnny being an exceedingly strong trio of songs grounding the whole production. It may be a song or two short but it should probably be on some best of lists come years end,
