Black Friday RSD 2019

No PJ found for y'all. My local was long sold out.

However, I got plenty of goodies for myself! I got the Slipknot 7" (the only RSDBF release I wanted), plus an OG Axis of Love and a 1982 Dutch press of Black Flag's Damaged! Awesome stuff! 🤘

Yeah, unfortunately. Many (including me) had the Clear Stereolab cancelled after they had sold out of practically everywhere in the US (thanks Amazon.ca for saving the day) I know @Dead C and a few others had issues with them in the past also. Though I will say, I have ordered from them in the past without issue so Godspeed whatever you decide.

Thanks, I ordered from Zia, since it was the same price, now I guess I need to email them to cancel and hope I don't get 2 of each. 😅

Well I had a successful trip, managed to get the records I wanted.

What I didn't like was the experience itself. I knew it would be busy but people were acting like animals. I went to Rough Trade on my way into work. They had arranged 4 big boxes on a table which was SWARMED with people pushing, shoving, shouting. Manic. I finally got to a position to flick through and halfway a guy just pushed all the records back up into my hand. I turn to him and tell him I was halfway through and that he crushed my hand and his response was "I dont care, I wanted to start from the front". I pushed them back to where I was because screw that guy.

After I got the records I went to one side (where it was dead quiet) and was told by a staff member that I "cant look through them until they are paid for", which is a crazy thing to say but he was super stressed to be fair to him. I get in the queue and theres 3 tills, at one is an angry guy kicking off at a staff member because they dont have a Katy Perry album in stock. At another is a guy who, according to the staff member, was one of the first in, ran over to the boxes and grabbed the whole stack of a particular release. He then took them to his mate standing at the side and took it in turns queuing up and paying for them one at a time. The staff member was telling him that he cant use the came credit card each time as they could get fined and the customer was getting annoyed because hes only got 4 cards and has already used them. Clearly flippers.

I know im ranting at this point but, damn, people need to realise that all this is about something they dont even need, its a hobby which is supposed to be fun. I know I played into it today by going first thing (which I wont be doing again BTW), but the whole thing could have been fun and stress free if it wasn't for the few individuals that wreck it for everyone.

I can relate, sorry you had to go through all that bs. I haven't gone to many RSD's but from the ones that I have gone to, the only shop where it wasn't chaotic was Young Ones in Kutztown, PA. During RSD there is of course a long line of people waiting already, But instead of just popping open the doors and letting everyone run in and grab shit, they actually hand out sheets of paper with all of the RSD releases on them to the people waiting in line. You can then mark all the releases that you would like to buy (limit 1 each of course). Then they try to fill the requests based on your position in line (ie. if there are only 2 copies of Pink Floyd and position #1 and #2 asks for it, then nobody else gets a copy).
When they finally open the doors, you basically just go in and shop their regular stock, and the RSD releases are kept behind the counter. The staff try their best to compile your list of requests and then they call you up when its bagged up.
I'm sure there are probably other stores in the country that do something similar. I think this way there isn't all the craziness and people can still enjoy the day. And flippers can't hoard too many copies, unless they get their family to come stand in line with them at 5am.
