Ch Ch Ch Changes! - David Bowie Talk

Well I am definitely grabbing the box set and the 10" set as well.

Something to keep in mind (not trying to stoke FOMO) but I bet Toy (either expanded or regular version) and BBC are not released separately.
I think that’s pretty apparent from the press release. The question is whether people are willing to pay a $100+ premium for those. Obviously many people will.

I will wait for Amazon.ca to list it as I won't be near a bricks and mortar record store probably until 2022.

I can't see if the Toy collection is only available through the Bowie store or whether larger release (even though it is limited)

Why is this one so expensive? I'm holing off on Box 4 because it's been priced over C$300 but I got boxes 2 and 3 for C$220 and C$190 respectively. They were both still in the low to mid C$200's lately.

Mixture of more discs (5LPs more than 1st 3 and 3 more than 4) increased production costs as opposed to 2015–2018 and the fact that there is more demand allowing them to charge more.

Not seeing it on Amazon.ca yet. The Rhino site has it for $399USD. I am hoping that Amazon will get it for $450CDN but who knows. I will just hit "one click' purchase and turn away quickly from the screen.

It will definitely give me pause... maybe I hold off a little for the price drop. But this one has several albums I really like, plus Toy.

Yeah, very much same. I’m ready to just rip that bandage off and pretend like it didn’t happen until it lands on my stoop. Hoping Amazon and retail are close so I can snag retail and at least get my in-store points + cash back card dings to at least make me feel a little better.

I’ll probably hold out until February when the individual album reissues start coming out. Should be able to snag BTWN, Outside, and Earthling (and even Hours and Buddha, if I’m feeling frisky) for less than half of the box set price.

Well, the announcement did motivate me to revisit those 90s albums. BTWN is weaker than I remember, and Buddha is not very interesting at all. On the other hand, Hours is waaaaay stronger than I remember, which is a bit shocking.

At this point, I'm 100% in on the reissues of Outside/Earthling/Hours, and lukewarm on the rest.

I quite want Earthling and maybe Toys but I can’t make myself buy the box or the standalone release of Toys. Hoping for a breakout of that, otherwise when do the individual albums usually get broken out from the box? Is it pretty much at the same time?

It was roughly 6 months later. The last 4 boxes came out in September and the stand-alone issues of the non exclusive records came out the following March/April. I’d bet these will likely be out May/June 2022
