Cocktails

One of the best cocktails I've had in a minute at a local bar. Jungle bird and Kingston negroni mashup. Pineapple rum, campari, house blend sweet vermouth infused with lime zest and spiced pineapple chunks. Putting all the bold flavors of a shaken cocktail into the complexity of a stirred drink.

Porn Star Martini

1.5 passion fruit
0.5oz vanilla simple syrup
0.5oz lime juice
0.5oz Passoa
2oz Vanilla Vodka

I should have used half a passion fruit for garnish, but i ate it. There should also be a sidecar of champagne/prosecco but I'm not going to open a bottle for that.

Chocolate S'mores

This is basically a riff on a rum manhatten. Rum was infused with cocoa nibs for three hours prior to making and also has a couple of dashes of chocolate bitters.

I work for a distillery, consult on cocktail menus (both for my distillery and privately) and do custom bar and events planning...so first of all, thanks for all the inspiration above...I'll certainly be utilizing some of these concepts.

my most recent project has been a recipe for a barrel-aged cocktail...using a 5L charred barrel I've added this basic recipe (obviously the ratios changed considerably)

1.5oz Bully Boy American Straight Whiskey (45%corn/45%rye/10%malted barley: Basil Hayden's bourbon is probably the closest substitute)
.75oz Bully Boy Amaro (Amaro Nonino is probably the closest substitute)
.25oz Green Chartreuse
Dry Curacao wash

as a basic recipe, I liked a dash or two of Peychaud's to brighten the herbal notes of the Chartreuse...I'll be curious to see how the barrel aging plays with the cordials.

Another new one. It's called the Gin Fixed. According to the Gifford's guide, it's supposed to be served with crushed ice in a martini glass, but I fancied it without the crushed ice. Anyway here are the specs that I used.

2oz gin
0.25oz Cointreau
1oz pineapple juice
0.5oz lemon juice
0.25oz simple syrup.

Sorry no picture, but I made a gimlet last night. I love citrus-y gin cocktails in winter.

I tweaked it slightly and reduce the simple syrup

2oz gin - I used Hendrick's Orbium
3/4oz lime juice
1/2oz kaffir lime leaf infused simple syrup

very yummy, though it needed to be a bit more acidic.

How's the Orbium? Considering it's made over here it's a bloody expensive gin here. Is it special/unique enough to warrant the cost?

Not sure if it is worth it actually. Its very nice, but pricey. I received it as a gift. It is a great on its own as a sipper. I have used it to make a homemade Pimm's and that was tasty. Last night was the first time using it in the gimlet.
