I'm really enjoying the new Willi Carlisle album Peculiar, Missiouri. Didn't realize it was coming out already.
Thanks for this! The new Deslondes album came out yesterday and I’ve already listened to it a ton. I think it’s their best record.
I had a great time at folk fest this weekend and saw some greats acts. I think Allison Russell was my favourite, I was a bit embarassed that I didn't realize she was the singer for Birds of Chicago. I saw them at the same festival 4 or 5 years ago.
I hadn't listened to much Kevin Morby before and I liked him a lot. It was a nice surprise that Waxahatchee showed up and performed some songs with him. This is one of my favourites from the album.
I found Jim White in a random workshop before a solo show I was waiting for (Haley Hendricks I think) and he was great, I hadn't heard any of his stuff before. This song is from his 2011 album but it's my favourite from the weekend, I'm going to need more time to check out his releases.
I also really liked seeing Haley Hendricks, Tim Baker, King Hannah, and Gangstagrass. I never knew bluegrass and hip hop went so well together.
Man, I love this guy.
Speaking of
I like Chris Acker. Odd, Ordinary & Otherwise is a good record.Looking forward to having all Nick's albums on vinyl, I should see if there's anything else I want to order from the garhole store to get more out of the shipping. Has anyone listened to some of the other artists they have listed: Jude Brothers, Jess Harp, Chris Acker, and Austin Cash
The full John Anderson tribute album is out today. I'm enjoying almost all of it...but this is my first exposure to Eric Church an,d man, does he blow.
Yeah that’s a fair impression. I got whiplash going for his track to Gillian Welch & David Rawlings.See, I enjoy Church. Like If I had to listen modern Country radio I would be alright if it sounded mostly like Eric Church. He’s one of the better ones when it comes to mainstream Country, in my opinion.
Though, I am sure when included with a bunch non-mainstream more reputable artists here, I bet his style would be a bit jarring in relation.
On the flip side it’s also my first exposure to Luke Combs and I like his cover. He also did my favorite Anderson song so maybe that has something to do with it.Yeah that’s a fair impression. I got whiplash going for his track to Gillian Welch & David Rawlings.
