Criterion Club

24hr 50% flash sale is live. What's on everyone's list? I snagged The Long Good Friday, Demon Pond, and I Walked with a Zombie / The Seventh Victim.

Double check that they play through. I had some issues with mine where a lot of the movies wouldn't play past a certain point. They've fixed the issue and Criterion replaced my copies.
I’m trying to finish Days of Being Wild and the disc is one of those cases 😭

I’m so glad I remembered this post zomg

Are there any markings on the disc?

I've checked the discs in my set to see if there were any issues as i've had a few discs from the Agnes Varda set skip so i could contact Criterion about replacements for both if needed and there were three discs with feel-able markings i think would cause problems.

I have the Varga box set too. I’ll need to sit down and have a marathon for that one too!

I’ll take a look! Thanks for the tip!

followed up Drive My Car by watching Evil Does Not Exist this afternoon. that ending is going to haunt me.

Hamaguchi's filmmaking feels so effortlessly naturalistic that it's easy to overlook how careful and well-paced he is. I feel more than a little Kelly Reichardt in his sense of place and his masterful use of long, static takes.

Sometime early next year, I'm gonna tackle Happy Hour. 5.5 hrs, but just know it slaps.
