Day 11 - Sloth
Play something lazy

OK...I posted this in the wrong thread earlier...again.

I really don't know why this has been an issue with this thread...I haven't had an issue with any past threads.

I got busy with other things and this is still on the TT, so I'm being lazy and flipping it to side B now.

Day 11 - Sloth
Play something lazy

Some of my students' imaginations right now after grades were submitted:

"I was gonna go to class, but then I got high. I coulda cheated and I coulda passed but I was high."

But Professor Hemotep worked extra hard this week to get grades in so he could be slothful and listen to Afroman on a Saturday morning.

Day 10 - Party
Play something you would play at a party

Jessie Ware "What's You Pleasure?" (2020 PMR Records)
My daughter's diving team mates were at the mall for a girl's day out and the power went out because of the freezing rain. They're now over here in my electrified house. Fed them some grilled cheese sandwiches. They broke out some board games and I'm spinning this. This is as close to a party I've been to in two years.

Greatest hits albums are lazy cash grabs right? But they can be so good.

I think when a band does one after two albums or a band puts a song only available on the greatest hits that this argument can be made. Otherwise, I think it’s important to remember that greatest hits aren’t really for us, the vinyl collecting addicts that are obsessed with AOR. It’s for joe smoe who likes the four or five songs he heard on the radio and doesn’t want to buy four or five albums to get it.

Edit, I also think the are a few genuinely great ones like Al Green’s.

KiloWatts ‎– Eight Experiments

20211211_171931.jpg

Some years back, in what feels like another lifetime, I used to produce, promote and DJ all-night dance parties. When KiloWatts released his 2007 album Ground State on a label from which I gobbled up any and every release, I took a chance and emailed him out of the blue to see how much it would cost me to bring him out my way - he quoted a reasonable price and some months later I found myself opening for him in Vancouver then hosting him in Victoria. We had an absolute blast and put together a few more events over the next few years. Though it's been a number of years since we've shared physical space I still consider him a good friend. After nearly 20 years of making and releasing music, this was his first ever vinyl release and I was very stoked it happened shortly after my own life had stabilized enough to warrant having a turntable and collecting vinyl.
