Ever since I bought my new table rack, I’ve had more storage for my system of playing three times before shelving.
There are three dividers… to the left is clean records not yet spun. To the left of center is one spin, to the right of center is two spins, to the far right are club records - MRC, bandbox and N&G as well as the next two records of my alpha play through. All of this is to say that the flipbin is usually fairly empty unless I’ve been spinning all day and too lazy to put them away, except for right now when it is full of Christmas records.
Today’s spin has become my favorite all time Christmas record in just two Christmas seasons! It also lives at the front of flipbin currently… so it’s a lazy play created by a lazy stack!
Kelly Finnigan Presents a Joyful Sound
1. Front of my to play pile, so minimal effort
2. Last song is entitled "Sleeping"
3. The Band is definitely one of those groups that I can utterly relax to while listening, so it works.
Day 12 - Motivational
Play something that drives you.
The Daptone Super Soul Revue - Live! At the Apollo
I'm going with the word motivational today because this fantastic album was the first thing that popped in my head when I read that word. Don't know if I'd say it drives me exactly, but I do find it motivational! If you haven't given this one a look yet then you really should, it's fantastic.
'Silence is Not an Option’ is a compilation from the ATO catalog of powerful anthems that explore issues of identity, community, social justice, and resistance, featuring artists such as Brittany Howard, Nick Hakim, Chicano Batman & more.
I love Cudi and the way he talks about mental health and his struggles with it, and, over the past few years, "Reborn" has become an anthem for me when I need to pull myself out of hard times, both emotional and situational.
The Flying Burrito Bros "Burrito Deluxe" (1970 A&M Records; 2018 Intervention Records Reissue)
Opens with the track "Lazy Days" and the record to me has that lazy afternoon vibe, preferably outside in the sun. Sunshine and cold weather will have to suffice though.
Day 12 - Motivational

Low - Hey What
For a kick in the pants, remember that a married Mormon couple out of Minnesota is putting out albums like THIS almost 30 years into their time as a band.

Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers - Moanin’
Whenever I have chores I need to take care of around the house, and I’m not feeling motivated, this is an album I’ll throw on to help get me through it. I almost forget that I’m scrubbing a toilet when this is blasting through the house.
