Definitive Audiophile pressings

How do we know that you aren't actually Chad... has anybody ever seen Chad and @The Denmarkian Wonder in the same room??
I don't know what you're talking about!

Do any of y'all have the Dizzy Gillespie Afro classics release? If so how did they do with cleaning up the horns? The high res stream is pretty rough simply due to the age of the recording. How did it turn out?

Iā€™ll try to spin mine tomorrow but remember the pressing sounding great. I think this will be one of those VMP records that didnā€™t sell super well but in a year or two when it goes out of stock people will be asking for a repress.

I would need to listen to it again -- but if I recall correctly, it was good, not stunning. The sound wasn't harsh, but it also didn't have a great depth or air. Terrific tracks and it sounded "good" but more historical vs immediate and involving. (Note, I love the record, don't have an OG or other comparison, but do have others from the period that sound more immediate amd other reissues from that time that sound more balanced and stronger)

It is good though and with some landmark cuts.

I'd also agree with @MikeH -- the album is a classic for a reason and I'd be surprised if people didn't want a solid sounding copy

The new anniversary pressing of Sigur RĆ³s ( ) on Translucent Haze Vinyl is a Pallas pressing. Itā€™s some beautifully pressed and mastered whale song.
Better be from Pallas, they're charging between $50 and $60 for it here in the US.

not sure if it belongs in this thread (haven't heard this pressing yet) but saw that the Drastic Plastic reissue of Dear Science is up at Deep Discount and PopMarket. Seems like PopMarket might be the best price at the moment ($38 shipped and there's a 10% off coupon THANKS10)

well picked this one up. generic GZ cut it looks like....but vinyl is silent and flat. i'll have to compare it to my mispress white version which is missing a song.

Thatā€™s disappointing. I have noticed a few recent of the DP reissues have not been Boom Boom versions. Probably do much backlog
yea-- a bit sad about that as the other DP reissues I have sound great. That Mott the Hoople - All The Young Dudes pressing is fantastic. this one doesn't sound BAD but sometimes i don't know what's missing until I hear another version and have something to compare it to.

Got to see Jeff Parker perform live at the Enfield Tennis Academy (ETA) here in LA last night. Was able to nab one of these on the way out after seeing @MikeH praising it. This is truly an incredible addition to the collection, sounds excellent and the music is absolutely masterclass improv. Was also super special picking it up from Jeff after watching them create more magic in the same space.139A2186-AA96-4E90-A696-F6DB9D612225.jpeg
