I’d say the debut and Heartbeat City are must owns, Candy-O would be my 3rd choice. Is this Cars a must? I only have their greatest hits?

I bought three. Superb. Expensive, but worth it.I picked up one of the Deutsche Grammaphon The Original Source reissues and I gotta say....wow. Absolutely dead silent vinyl. Beautiful dynamics. They knocked it out of the park with these. I'm definitely gonna try to pick up more. Honestly didn't know Optimal could make vinyl that sounds this good after all their QC issues lately.
I went back and picked up another title last night. The presale prices at Target in the US are quite good compared to full MSRP on these. I preordered some of the next batch. The Emil Gilels is a 2LP for $60 MRSP and I think is priced at $48 or something at Target right now.I bought three. Superb. Expensive, but worth it.
Emil Berliner Studio is among the elite in the world. It is no surprise that Speakers Corner used them for so many titles.
this is the reissue campaign site:Where can I find the list of these classical releases? I have some streaming to do

the ones out so far are these:
The Original Source
The Original Source is one of several new initiatives introduced by Deutsche Grammophon in 2023 as part of its 125th-anniversary celebrations. The Original Source draws on the technical innovation that has been part of the label’s identity ever since it was founded in 1898 by Emil Berliner...www.discogs.com
i think most of these performances are on Qobuz but it can be kinda hard to find the actual performance.
that's the one I grabbed. It's beyond awesome. The Kleiber Beethoven is exceptional. I used to have it, and the recording of the 5th, on a single SACD and now have Japanese OG vinyl of both. It’s an almost perfect recording and the Japanese OGs sound great.
I have noticed that optimal are coming back up to scratch in the last year after their bit of a wobble over Covid.
yea--I think the stream is good for getting an idea of the music, but the cuts on these are spectacular and quite different than the streams. the process page on the Original Source website is really cool and interesting to read, even if some of it goes over my head with the technicalities hahaDon't stream other than for a broad read of the interpretation!
The sound of these are radically different than any digital version (other than the SACD) as they are totally remixed from the original 4 track tapes. Digital were not.

this series was VERY well done. the specs and some of the details are here:

this in particular is pretty cool:
A number of these “Quadro” recordings call for additional reverb. Adding artificial reverb to an existing recording is not a new concept: it was already common practice in the original 1970s mixes. Today, Emil Berliner Studios use an echo chamber of about 400 cubic meters, which is connected directly to the SP79 mastering console. By using a second tape machine as an analogue tape delay, any amount of pre-delay can be created for the reverb. This allows for adjusting the room size according to the repertoire.
gotta look that one up!I do think it’s a pity they’ve sort of lost momentum with the Fragments series. The Satie one was spectacular but there’s be no noise about them following up with another composer.
gotta look that one up!

Try the Sam records instagram?Does anyone know what Fred from Sam Records handle is here, or another way to reach him? I’ve got a defective record from them and am trying to get it replaced. I reached out on the web form on their website over a week ago but haven’t heard anything back.
what whySo uh….this arrived in the mail today out of nowhere…someone sent me a copy of the Canadian pressing of Supertramp- Crime of the Century just to audition it and this was also included in the package to demo and send back…
