Definitive Audiophile pressings

Thank you. Hejira is an all-time favorite for me so I'm sure I'll be tempted. I'll pop over and see if I'm willing to compile the Japanese OGs.

I tried calling 3-4 places and didn't have success. I'm not near one (and traveling for work this week) so I'm putting that in the sadly out of reach pile and hopefully others can take advantage
They were on sale in the Rhino 12 days thing too.

It’s amazing but the 45 format is rough for me on this one. I think the longest side is a little over 8 minutes long cc: @ngower
I so don’t understand the inconvenience of 45 mindset. EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR HOBBY IS INCONVENIENT. If I had never gotten back into vinyl and spent the 8 or so thousand dollars on equipment over the last 7 years, I would probably be dumb and happy streaming Spotify over my echo plus in the kitchen.

Edit: I also have several hundred 7 inch records too. So I’m 🤪

For me, getting up every 2 short songs to flip the record is annoying especially given that the sonic benefit is almost never worth it for me. I'm okay with getting up every 20 minutes to flip it.

I have too many 7" and don't listen to a single one aside from the ones in my jukebox.

I usually end a dedicated session by listening to a 7 or 2. But also:

Those are waiting to be cleaned and played. My 7 inch flipbin is full and I need to build a crate (on top of actually listening to the ones in the flipbin) for them.

I agree BUT, I don't think accepting that I'm in an inconvenient hobby means I should be OK with making it as inconvenient as possible at all times.

HOWEVER, there are instances where I hear discernible differences in quality, and thus think it's valid to spring for the 45 version, the recent Pearl Jam Vs. being an example.

FURTHERMORE, I am no longer saying anything of value but you're still reading you fool. You absolute donut. Nothing but a day old loaf of bread from Jimmy John's waiting to be smacked against the side of a brick wall. Good DAY.

Press it on a 7 and I’ll listen.

I still debate picking up the Finnigan Holiday album in 7in set.

the Rumours 45 is another where i thought it was better than the 33. Sometimes I don't mind a 45. It's those 30 min albums that Chad presses to 45 that are a hard pill to swallow for me, even if I think the mastering sounds great.

Yeah, I agree with…Lee????

If I am doing something that requires me to step away from my records and is gonna annoy me to flip em I would probably be just as annoyed whether it was 8 minutes per side or 22 minutes so in those instances I will just stream shit on Spotify where I never have to flip anything and it’s endless sound forever.

If I am at my desk listening or reading or working or whatever flipping over a disc ain’t a big deal and I am lazy AF and don’t store my box sets in the boxes.

I’m contemplating putting the single album box sets (I.e. revolver) back in the boxes. Hell I already did that to the Hiss Golden Messenger Box and plan on Epoch going on the shelf in the box. Problem is, this requires going to the attic. But the big ass career box sets - Beatles and Kinks in Mono, Petty, Bowie… then shits staying out the box.

Why are you considering putting them back in? I pulled all mine out recently and I've never felt freer. Looks better too IMO

Part of it is I like to sit down to relax after a long day and listen to a record. so 7 min vs 20 minutes a side makes a difference to me haha. When I'm at my desk, 45 doesn't bother me that much.
