Definitive Audiophile pressings

While I agree that his years of alcoholism, scary embrace of far-right racism, incredibly broken-person elements are underwhelming to say the least -- I'm also going to say that 461 Ocean, Slowhand, and There's One in Every Crowd have extraordinary moments of musicianship and interpretation of traditional songs -- and that tracks like Wonderful Tonight, Lay Down Sally etc also hold up pretty darn well.

I'm not a huge fan of Unplugged but I'd oh so respectfully disagree on a hard pan. It's simply representative of the time with MTV, hagiography of the 60s, his odd comeback after the death of his son led him to Tears in Heaven, etc etc etc. It's adult contemporary acoustic music. It may not be your jam, fair enough.

We’re going to have to respectfully agree to disagree here.

SOV (UMG) is digging in and not canceling my order, they say it's already been processed, but I can return it once it arrives. I call Bull Shit, I canceled it literally 5 minutes after placing it, which sparked my response to the email that I haven't EVER received a shipping confirmation from them in less than 2 days after placing an order.

To which I got this nugget -
Hello Anthony,

Thank you for your reply.

Orders for in stock items are sent to the warehouse for picking as soon as received to ensure the quickest shipping to customers. As advise on the Support Centre, we are unable to cancel an order once it has been processed I am afraid.

Many thanks,

My response, Fair enough, I’ll be curious to see how soon I receive my shipping notice.

Not the end of the world, I guess we'll see if they're the same pressings or not ;)
I got the same email and responded it was unacceptable as I cancelled within an hour of placing my order and still haven’t received a shipping notice. This is from their Help page:

How do I cancel my order?

We should be able to cancel your order or any item from your order providing we haven't already dispatched it to you. Just enter your request below and we will do our best to action it before it goes to our warehouse. We are not able to cancel your order once it's been processed.

It feels so freaking good to come home after a long, hard day of heavy lifting at work to this album! Instantly feel comforted, happy and relaxed! ❤️

I’ve got Albert King’s masterpiece lined up next after the Lou Reed! Another Speakers Corner pressing I cherish too, and am already looking forward to spinning it for some lively, feel good vibes! 🥳

I am shocked to discover you don’t have outer sleeves for your records

Cross post from the Soul Step thread because live is Definitive. (not really, but I thought folks on here might like it and creating a whole thread seemed excessive) -- I slotted Brian Owens into an event my company is doing for a live stream concert, free, Feb 12:

I'll add Coney Island Baby is spectacular.
Once you have committed to the rabbit hole (and hey, why not), jump head first into Take No Prisoners, the 1978 live album recorded at the Bottom Line in NY. It's a singular expression of a unique time, place, very NY, and very Lou Reed in all that made him spectacular, at times a cantankerous asshole, and, well, NY
And since you are already down said rabbit hole, check out The Complete Matrix Tapes, which contains four live sets of The Velvet Underground at The Matrix in San Francisco in 1969. I've only been through 4 of the 8 LPs, but it's some good shit with surprisingly excellent sound quality.

Acoustic Sounds order came through this AM. Won't be able to give everything a proper spin until this weekend at the earliest, but I am listening to the Drastic Plastic pressing of All The Young Dudes and it's pretty awesome sounding to me! The KG in the deadwax has absolutely no effect on my feelings on how this sounds.

There's a copy of that at a local coffee shop near me that sells records, been eyeing that one for a few weeks now. Think I'll pick it up this weekend.

If it’s the Drastic Plastic reissue I’d pick it up! I think it’s likely on its last copies. AS originally cancelled my order last time and said it was out of stock but this one got fulfilled. This one is the red vinyl copy but I think there’s a black one as well

Yeah they’re both pretty rare now looking online, I’d say it’s much more likely that it’s the older MOV press that a place has in stock because they still appear to be widely available.

Yeah it's the KG Drastic Plastic though I'm not sure which color. They have some random audiophile records mixed into their shelves. I know there is the s/t Mofi Dylan, an Elvis Costello Mofi, and I grabbed the ORG of Ole Coltrane a few weeks ago there. There's an ORG of Solo Monk as well which I think is backordered everywhere too.

I think cogs wasn’t too bad on it. It’s a great companion album to the T Rex I’ve been listing to and Bowies that I picked up too

Yeah it isn’t, postage is a killer to here though and takes it out of range really for an album that I’m mostly buying for the single that it’s named after.
