I'm a huge Herbie fan, and I don't think you can go wrong anywhere from Headhunters and earlier.

Of course, his most well-known titles are stellar, but I'd like to highlight these two (Inventions & Dimensions and Crossings) as two albums that have been incredible surprises to me over the past few years b/c, imho, they're both criminally underrated -- not b/c people don't like them but, rather, they're usually not mentioned in the group of his top-tier titles, and I think they should be.

I can see why this is the case for Crossings bc his Mwandishi trilogy is anything but traditional and, as w/ electric Miles, the jazz establishment was dismissive of anything that didn't swing the way they though "jazz" should swing. Nevertheless, Crossings is probably my favorite Herbie album, and the Speakers Corner press is simply stunning (I also have an OG press that's not in the same league).

As for Inventions & Dimensions, for me, it's been the biggest and best surprise of any of the recent BN series (80/TP/Classics). It's traditional 60s Herbie but with Latin percussion (Willie Bobo & Osvaldo ā€œChihuahuaā€ Martinez). It's a surprise to me b/c I myself fell victim to the narrower set of titles considered his best and didn't dig into this until the BN80 release. Now it's in the regular rotation.

You didn't get the deluxe? I've been eying it for a while given Abbey is in the five not completely overrated Beatles albums that they churned out.

Yeah, some are very hit and miss! The SadƩ boxset which was Abbey Road Half-Speed thankfully sounded very good, as did the Bob Marley Half-Speed reissues, but I was wary that I was taking a bit of a gamble! Every Abbey Road I have purchased so far, has sounded excellent, from Amy Winehouse to INXS, but I have heard mixed things for other Abbey Road Half-Speed reissues!

Dusty in Memphis is great. Probably not AP great but for Ā£20 it's fab. Solid Air also great and I like my stones box.

I've read they made a right mess of Scott 4 though... Which is a shame as i'd have been all over it had it not been slammed

The Analogue Productions 2xLP 45RPM pressing sounds outstanding, but if the Abbey-Road 1LP sounds amazing, then that's so good! That would probably be like comparing the MoFi 2xLP 45RPM pressing of T. Rex's Electric Warrior to the Roktober 2017, Kevin Gray 1LP 33/13RPM pressing!
 
Just spinning the Analogue Productions (AP) pressing for Dusty Springfield and it sounds ohhh so good! Was spinning the AP pressing for Tea For The Tillerman last night and it was such a beautiful listen too! That Cat Stevens pressing sounds phenomenal! Easily one of my favourite AP pressings!!! ā¤ļø

That cover is all kinds of wrong though...

Is the Cat Stevens really that good? I like that album but the 45 is silly money now.

What do you mean that Dusty In Memphis cover is all kinds of wrong? Like itā€™s a really low quality looking album jacket?

That Cat Stevens sounds absolutely astonishing Joe! The guitars sound so lively to the point itā€™s like heā€™s in my room playing the guitar! You can hear every intricate detail! Nearly shed a tear when Wild World played; got a bit emotional listening to that song!

No Nathan, there was a totally different cover in the UK for thst album, the AP has the US cover. Take a look at the cover of my Abbey Road Half Speed Master in the Whats SpinNing Thread, i was spinning it earlier!
