..............I need to slow my ass down, I feel like the 2 weeks sidelined with COVID has made me go into overdrive buying vinyl the last few days, lol. Not to mention my offer was accepted on a grail tonight, thrilled and still wondering if I should have spent that muchI grabbed the Bandbox Death Cab exclusive the other day. Can we just rename this thread, "All the Kevin Gray albums you need to buy"
Glad you’re feeling better!..............I need to slow my ass down, I feel like the 2 weeks sidelined with COVID has made me go into overdrive buying vinyl the last few days, lol. Not to mention my offer was accepted on a grail tonight, thrilled and still wondering if I should have spent that much
Awwwww shit...that's one that has eluded me. Nice grab. My OG MASTERDISK pressing sounds great but that has to be next level.
Ya, I have an OG as well that sounds great. But this is one of my absolute all time favorite albums and the production value is just stellar..........the One-Step, I can't wait to hear itAwwwww shit...that's one that has eluded me. Nice grab. Jealous. I have a handful of One Steps - they do not disappoint. I snoozed on that one...Ya, I have an OG as well that sounds great. But this is one of my absolute all time favorite albums and the production value is just stellar..........the One-Step, I can't wait to hear it
This is only my second and honestly there are only two others I'd want, one is What's Going On, which is in the realm of possible, the other is the Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard, which I kick myself for not grabbing when it was released..........that one, I don't think I'll be able to manage.Jealous. Ooh yea definitely slow down spending then . I have quite a few One Steps now but am missing this, the two Bill Evans, Simon and Garfunkel and Texas Flood. Not sure I’ll ever find this one for even a decent price but let us know how it sounds. With how particular Fagen is during production I’m sure it sounds incredible.
Notoriously legendary...............but then listen to the musichow much of a pain in the ass it must have been to work with those guys
I grabbed What’s Going On at a little over list price 6 months ago or so from someone on a Facebook group. Its not my favorite One Step despite probably being one of my favorite titles they have done so far. Having it on 4 sides really interrupts the flow of the album for me.This is only my second and honestly there are only two others I'd want, one is What's Going On, which is in the realm of possible, the other is the Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard, which I kick myself for not grabbing when it was released..........that one, I don't think I'll be able to manage.
I lucked into a Marvin not too long ago. It's awesome. I have Portrait in Jazz but not Vanguard...another one that got away...This is only my second and honestly there are only two others I'd want, one is What's Going On, which is in the realm of possible, the other is the Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard, which I kick myself for not grabbing when it was released..........that one, I don't think I'll be able to manage.
I love What's Going On, while the flow is a little interrupted, I really only notice that going from Side 1 to Side 2.This is only my second and honestly there are only two others I'd want, one is What's Going On, which is in the realm of possible, the other is the Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard, which I kick myself for not grabbing when it was released..........that one, I don't think I'll be able to manage.
At the risk of being the next Navin Johnson, all I need is this Wilco, “A Ghost is Born.”Here are a few KPG cut Indie/Alternative LPs that I already own and are worth chasing down if you are into that sort of thing...
Wilco - A Ghost Is Born

Yeah honestly anyone still on the fence, just buy all three and thank me later. Probably the best those albums will ever sound. The Galaxie 500 LPs, All 3 of them are cut and press well and I think all go for less than $20 on the regular.
This is a “stunner” alert:
I’ve been listening to a bunch of audiophile pressings I recently purchased (and cleaned!) and was planning to come here to provide my impressions of each of them, many that have received a lot of praise here. (Like I’m listening to the 2016 remaster of Hunky Dory right now, through headphones, and the clarity of the vocals is freaking me out like something from the spirit world connecting directly to my pleasure center.) But screw that. Instead, I’m going to highlight the one album that far surpasses all the others and has just earned by a long margin the primo demonstration status for my system. And that album is Simply Eva, by Eva Cassidy. I’ve only been vaguely familiar with her music because my wife loves this one CD of Eva’s that she plays all the time. And it’s beautiful, but its been mostly an in-passing thing for me. When I had decided to place a couple of orders with Acoustic Sounds, I ran across the Eva Cassidy record (2LP, 45 RPM, by Blix Street Records). Reviews were good and I figured that, if nothing else, I could try to convince my wife I was thinking of her when making my purchases (which I was!). Last night, after an afternoon of record cleaning, I decided to start the playing and began with Eva Cassidy’s album since my wife was within listening range. And basically my reaction was: are you fucking kidding me?! The entire album is acoustic guitar (gorgeous) and vocal (otherworldly). (Wasn’t until I finally read the credits (tonight) that I saw she’s doing it all. Wow.) But it’s the recording of this relatively simple presentation that has to be appreciated here because I’ve never heard anything close to the sound of her acoustic guitar that was coming out of my speakers—crisp, clear, melodic, and beautiful—and her voice just absolutely filled the room. I about lost my shit because isn’t this exactly the kind of listening experience we’re all striving for (and in my case rarely finding)? The closest point of comparison I probably can offer is the MoFi 2LP 45 RPM of Natalie Merchant’s Tigerlily, and quite frankly, it’s not even a contest—Simply Eva blows it out of the water. Hard to believe? Probably. But really, there’s something magical going on here, and if there’s even a remote chance you’d enjoy the music, run don’t walk to the nearest link to buy this album. It’s available at Acoustic Sounds, and a good deal less expensive at Amazon. I’m much more likely to succumb to this kind of hype than I am to push it, but I always enjoy being turned on to something that ends up making me giddy, so think of this as my attempt at a different kind of paying it forward.
Amazingly this is one that's pretty cheap in the UK.
I never really gave Eva Cassidy a proper chance, in England they posthumously released over the rainbow & it was a huge hit that you couldn't get away from & got overplayed. It also seemed to be a bit more about her tragic story than about her as an artist. I should have paid more attention, I was listening to a few songs of Night Bird, sounds good.
I will definitley pick up Simply Eva.
