Boy, I've had too much time on my hands to comb over my collection the last few days, lol.
Anyway, any thoughts on Black Sabbath - Master of Reality and The Rolling Stones – Their Satanic Majesties Request.
Having just thrown it into headphone (qobuz, 44.1 quality) while I'm working through the Monday mountain of ick -- wow does she have a voice. Thanks for sharing. This is a “stunner” alert:
I’ve been listening to a bunch of audiophile pressings I recently purchased (and cleaned!) and was planning to come here to provide my impressions of each of them, many that have received a lot of praise here. (Like I’m listening to the 2016 remaster of Hunky Dory right now, through headphones, and the clarity of the vocals is freaking me out like something from the spirit world connecting directly to my pleasure center.) But screw that. Instead, I’m going to highlight the one album that far surpasses all the others and has just earned by a long margin the primo demonstration status for my system. And that album is Simply Eva, by Eva Cassidy. I’ve only been vaguely familiar with her music because my wife loves this one CD of Eva’s that she plays all the time. And it’s beautiful, but its been mostly an in-passing thing for me. When I had decided to place a couple of orders with Acoustic Sounds, I ran across the Eva Cassidy record (2LP, 45 RPM, by Blix Street Records). Reviews were good and I figured that, if nothing else, I could try to convince my wife I was thinking of her when making my purchases (which I was!). Last night, after an afternoon of record cleaning, I decided to start the playing and began with Eva Cassidy’s album since my wife was within listening range. And basically my reaction was: are you fucking kidding me?! The entire album is acoustic guitar (gorgeous) and vocal (otherworldly). (Wasn’t until I finally read the credits (tonight) that I saw she’s doing it all. Wow.) But it’s the recording of this relatively simple presentation that has to be appreciated here because I’ve never heard anything close to the sound of her acoustic guitar that was coming out of my speakers—crisp, clear, melodic, and beautiful—and her voice just absolutely filled the room. I about lost my shit because isn’t this exactly the kind of listening experience we’re all striving for (and in my case rarely finding)? The closest point of comparison I probably can offer is the MoFi 2LP 45 RPM of Natalie Merchant’s Tigerlily, and quite frankly, it’s not even a contest—Simply Eva blows it out of the water. Hard to believe? Probably. But really, there’s something magical going on here, and if there’s even a remote chance you’d enjoy the music, run don’t walk to the nearest link to buy this album. It’s available at Acoustic Sounds, and a good deal less expensive at Amazon. I’m much more likely to succumb to this kind of hype than I am to push it, but I always enjoy being turned on to something that ends up making me giddy, so think of this as my attempt at a different kind of paying it forward.
Cool! Hope you enjoy it.Amazingly this is one that's pretty cheap in the UK.
I never really gave Eva Cassidy a proper chance, in England they posthumously released over the rainbow & it was a huge hit that you couldn't get away from & got overplayed. It also seemed to be a bit more about her tragic story than about her as an artist. I should have paid more attention, I was listening to a few songs of Night Bird, sounds good.
I will definitley pick up Simply Eva.
Well, the Walmart pressing showed up and it looks like the 2016 pressing based on the matrix?SOV (UMG) is digging in and not canceling my order, they say it's already been processed, but I can return it once it arrives. I call Bull Shit, I canceled it literally 5 minutes after placing it, which sparked my response to the email that I haven't EVER received a shipping confirmation from them in less than 2 days after placing an order.
To which I got this nugget -
Hello Anthony,
Thank you for your reply.
Orders for in stock items are sent to the warehouse for picking as soon as received to ensure the quickest shipping to customers. As advise on the Support Centre, we are unable to cancel an order once it has been processed I am afraid.
Many thanks,
My response, Fair enough, I’ll be curious to see how soon I receive my shipping notice.
Not the end of the world, I guess we'll see if they're the same pressings or not
Where are you guys finding these?Damn you all View attachment 86345

And 2000 light years from home!'Majesties is the ultimate underrated Stones album. Probably not for everyone but it's great if you love 60s stones. Not perfect, some filler, but that album has several total bangers: Citadel, 2000 Man, She's a Rainbow, The Lantern in particular. When the organ drops in 2000 Man, the bottom end on that is so good, it sounds so badass.

And 2000 light years from home!
60 percent of Satanic Majesties is absolutely great... Mick and Keef hate it though
Lalala, I don’t need to know this. I’ve almost bought this album a few times. She was an amazing singer. This is a “stunner” alert:

For sure, I've looked recently and no dice anywhere with reasonable shipping...If you ever get a line of a copy that would have decent shipping to Canada (i.e. not Acoustic Sounds) could you give me a shout?
I originally got my copy from Amazon a year or two ago. Not sure if Amazon.ca would have it or not.For sure, I've looked recently and no dice anywhere with reasonable shipping...
Yea--I think I slightly prefer it over the KG but I need to do a more direct comparison at some point. The MoFi sounds incredible.Damn the Electric Warrior MoFi is awesome! Such a wide soundstage they got out of it. Instruments are more defined and it feels enveloping. I won’t say it’s better than the KG cut or the original Fly but it’s definitely a different experience. I know some have complained about sibilance on Bolan’s vocals and really the worst is on Jeepster (always has been bad). Super happy to finally have it!
@Russ I might be the one to ask. I got a shipping notification from them on my first order on 1/26 but haven't received the package yet. I can let you know when it arrives though!Anyone who has ordered from JPC.DE, how long does it usually take to ship to the states once you get a shipping notification from them? I finally found a copy of the Pure Pleasure pressing of Hooker N Heat from them, trying to set delivery expectations.
