Definitive Audiophile pressings

I JUST grabbed the RKS RTI Paul Simon self titled. It's good for the price, but could definitely be better.

Yeah I have a standard Sony release that has mov in the deadwax but unlike S&G it wasn’t cut for mov by RKS. Also similar I’ve no huge complaints, especially for the €20 I paid, but it could be much better given a bigger budget.

His pricing is almost always generous. He rarely ever up charges and usually gets a lot in.
If he had free ship over 50/75/100 I would order more from him, even though he never answered the email I sent him. :)

I wonder if there's a reason Graceland wasn't chosen. I'm not too familiar with audiophile pressings of that one, but would be very interested in a One Step version.
or that the other pressings of it are already pretty good ?

It's pretty good though, but definitely not as impressive as the other RKS Paul Simon titles. I have a good sounding 70's press as well but my brother has so I've not been able to compare. I would guess that's the best available currently. Still Crazy sounds great, as does Graceland & Bookends.

I'm sure everyone saw this, but Fremmer did some needle drops of Still Crazy :

I really like the One Step but only have an old kinda beat up version to compare it to. if you like the album i'd say the one step is worth it at cost but compared to the other one steps, it's not the best one. I can't say that I listened to it and was completely blown away like i have been with Mingus and Dylan.

bump, anyone ?

Ive only ever had this on cd. I don’t think that it got a lot of praise when it came out, but might be wrong. @Joe Mac will be able to say.

I’ve been toying with idea of picking up late 79’s and early 80’s Beatles editions. I missed out on the mono box, so I’ll probably go for pre digital stereo pressings.

Edit - I’m not even going to look at the price of the mofi’s

this might be a question for @Joe Mac ? i remember skipping it but can't remember why and i ended up getting a copy of the MoFi.
I have the digital and Ringo's drums really stand out. I have seen a few people say the like the lp better than the Mofi, my local has a hand delivered copy for 30 so might just give it a try.

mid be interested to know if it’s good. I’m also tempted by the recent White album but got confused on which edition to get?

People seem to love/hate the MoFis. I happen to like it a lot.

i'm no beatles expert but i have the escher demos box and like it and haven't felt the need to upgrade. i did get it from an amazon deal for $45 though which i think was a pretty good price. i think it's more of a remix though and not sure how it compares to other recent reissues.
