Definitive Audiophile pressings

if you go japanese pressings, just make sure to do some research on the specific pressings. as with the Beatles and others, some japanese pressings are better regarded than others. the Zepp II I got from Record City sounds solid, but don't have another pressing to compare to. I went the japanese route because I heard the remasters were meh and like you said, hard to find clean early copies that are used.

For PF, I'd go 2016s or search out some of the japanese pressings. The Wall pressing I got sounds awesome. I may dip back in for WYWH.
Ordered several from both bands on Record City last night. They didn’t have The Wall in a condition I was willing to take a chance on, but everything else was EX. The Japanese Wall does seem to have great reviews, and that’s my favorite PF album, so I’ll probably look to track one down if it does sound as awesome as you say. I also ordered the 2016 UK remastered WYWH. Eventually I’ll probably track an earlier pressing down but I’m fine with the 2016 for now.

Thanks!

The 80s called and they want their records back. All 3 were listed as Ex/Ex. Sleeves do not look 40 years old. The Police has a bit of flaking at the top and bottom spine but the other 2 look perfect. The records themselves all need a good clean but playing a couple of songs off each record and they sound great.

@Turbo the Duran sounds really nice. A bit narrow soundstage but a long time since I hear an early pressing. Though vocal mix on The Chauffeur is different with almost no phasing on Simon's vocals. All in all very happy (even though it took 7 days to get to me almost half way around the world) and will probably grab a few more titles from them.

How are the basslines on Rio? Particularly My Own Way and Last Chance On The Stairway, which are pretty much driven by the bassline, and that smooth bass in Save A Prayer. (Asking because the Blondie I got was a little wanting in that regard)

My order is supposedly on the truck for delivery today, but we'll see as it's getting a little late.

Only listened to Hungry and Chauffeur. The base could be punchier.

So back to Japanese pressing talk... these arrived today. They're now cleaned and ready to spin. All look essentially brand new, it's crazy. I definitely selected better this time - everything was EX/EX/EX except the T Rex which was EX/VG+/VG+. Quick needle drops also suggest they all play back cleanly too. I'll spin attentively over the next few days.
