Definitive Audiophile pressings

So Dylan's Blood on the Tracks, is the MoFi the route to go? It's the last of the Dylan I'm looking to pick up.

The One Step is definitely the way to go. I had the 33rpm MFSL before getting the one step and the one step was a significant upgrade.

Yeah I agree the one step is the best. It’s in a different league altogether. I had the 33 mofi and felt it was amongst the worst of the mofis ive owned. By no means bad, but it was also no better than the SACD I’d previously owned. I’m not sure how it compares to a standard vinyl pressing though because I’ve not owned one.

I was originally leaning toward a UK OG, but I'm not going to find one locally so that means having faith in a Cogs sellers grading, so we're turning to the MoFi's to circumvent that issue. Still, quite a difference in price, but it narrows the field down to the One-Step and rolling the dice on a UK pressing.

..............it's never easy, lol

Have you looked into pressings from our friends in Japan if you’re think of going the OG route 😂

TBH if I recall correctly the 33 MoFi was super pricy anyway, around €100 last I checked, which is far more than it’s worth.

I just got this one from my father in law and already have the One Step. I haven't had a chance to clean it yet though...but is that the OG UK you're looking for?

That's the one, there are 2 versions, one has a mural on the back cover and one does not (the one you posted). The pressings are identical though. I just didn't think the price jump on the mural version was worth the extra cash being the same outside of that...........again, unless I'm missing some details in my research.

I can at least give it a clean + listen for ya and let you know how that pressing sounds if ya want? I'd be shocked if it rivals the One Step though. The One Step is a top 5 (maybe top 3) sounding record in my collection.

And I think you're right--just seems like different sleeve to the other UK first pressing.

That would be appreciated. If clean and you want to part with it, let me know, it would be a nice place holder while we buy time on a One-Step, unless you want to hang on to it of course.

So I had an original and the 33 rpm MoFi. IMO the original is a great sounding album and the MoFi is a little better than that. I never heard the one step but that’s going to be the best. Just depends how much money you want to throw down. A standard VG+ original is probably attainable for about $20-30, standard MoFi is at a minimum 4x that at the moment. One step is headed to the stratosphere.

Because the one step was a big press there are still copies that can be found at prices that more than reflect it’s worth in comparison to the standard mofi. That’s the one I see as crazy expensive relative to its worth. The cogs median is still €160 which isn’t a huge amount over the €130 retail. It ain’t cheap but then it wasn’t ever a cheap pressing to begin with.

Edit: It is climbing though and the best prices seem to be in Europe which is weird as hell for any mofi. I probably wouldn’t procrastinate for too long either if I wanted it though.

That's exactly the thing, I think with patience the One-Step can be had at a "reasonable" price.

It’s a delicate balance. Because it’ll eventually rocket and it’s hard to predict. I’d probably jump on that one from France for €175 NM and I definitely be tempted by the one out of the U.K. with minor box scuffs for £130 but the US and Canadian prices are too high for me.

I agree that the US first pressing sounds very good. In fact, listening to "You're a Big Girl Now" on that OG has blown my mind on a number of occasions! :D I think this is the pressing I have. I also have the MoFi 33 RPM, which sounds fine, but is a bit hot IIRC, with sibilant tendencies. I've never heard the One-Step, but I certainly take the word of others who rave about it. If you can't easily find a UK OG, consider looking for a clean US OG for your placeholder.
