Definitive Audiophile pressings

None of this is too shocking.

I've always thought that the "From The Master Tapes" speak is all marketing jargon to be taken with a grain of salt.

Unless the release specifically says "Cut From The Master Tapes" - then I think it's from digital intermediate or a later tape backup.

And even then I would think that it's possible they are skirting the lines a bit.

Even the use of AAA isn't really what it actually means - and doesn't exactly mean full analog anymore.

The original AAA Spars code was for Analog recording / Analog mixing / Analog mastering.

Now it is being used for Analog recording / Analog mastering / Analog playback medium.

This doesn't exclude the use of digital somewhere along the line.

Is this an awkward time to say my Bob Dylan Bringing It All Back Home MoFi Stereo is amazing... ? 😂

I've been listening to all my audiophile reissues again and this one definitely stuck out as the most impressive!

I gotta say that I love all my MoFi Dylan ones. The only one I wasn’t so hot on was the original 33 Blood On The Tracks but the OneStep I replaced it with is pretty special.

Just finishing up my morning coffee catching up on the shit show over on the SH forums. Man there are some insufferable types over there. Lots of flexing and bad takes. I much prefer this corner of the internet.

I guess my thoughts on this whole controversy would be some standardization around language of the sourcing and cutting would be the best outcome for the consumer. However, I doubt this ever becomes a reality.

I also doubt very much that everything Mofi has cut since 2015 was done from a digital source. Shane from Intervention Records even confirmed he was onsite and saw them cutting direct from tape.

Also, from the video above, Fremer states that Mofi made a tape copy of the Thriller master. So its likely to still be AAA. I guess we will have to wait on the official response from them.

I’ll take that Ziggy Stardust off your hands
I care too much about you to inflict this possibly maybe clearly compromised trash digital garbage upon your ears.
Instead I'm melting them all into a brick, and scrawling my upcoming class action lawsuit upon said brick which I will then deliver to Mofi by hurling it through their window.

Hoffman has stepped in on some posts to even call out some BS remarks from members.

Overall, I'm fine with the industry looking under the tent on these $125 + releases. Nothing wrong with transparency.

If you are charging this much, then open the curtains wide for everyone to see.

I recently said I was likely not a buyer any longer on one steps after hearing the first two I purchased. Personally, I feel like these are more of a $75 value. I don't have any UHQR but l kind of lump them together with one steps.
