Discogs - Help, Tricks, Secrets And Tips

Cheers ..I can add stuff on the phone app, but I prefer the desktop via my iPad ..which it doesn’t seem to like anymore !

I usually use my PC most of all. I use the phone when I'm out - but even then I don't use the app, just the website in a browser. The changes to the mobile version haven't been good, but it's a little difficult to switch it to the desktop version as you have to do a lot of zooming in to click anything.

I usually use the desktop/web site and it's been jacked up the last few days as well. Sometimes a refresh help, usually not............getting annoying.

I've refused to bother with the app as I despise it completely based on what little interaction I've had with it on my wife's phone. I've used my laptop and my phone's internet browser both quite a bit in the past couple of years. I'm more partial to the desktop version for sure.

I prefer the main site to the app but the app is a good resource tool also thanks primarily to the barcode scanning feature. I can quickly add new releases to my collection. Also when I am out a store I can use it to quickly price check albums to make sure the price is fair and having my waitlist handy makes it easier to remember what I am looking for.

I have a few you can add to the list.

Traffic Entertainment - Traffic Entertainment Group | International Music Distribution - Excellent urban, punk, funk distributor for Air Vinyl, Get on Down, and Now Again (and many more)
MonoStereo - Monostereo – Wholesale Vinyl Record Distributor, Music One Stop, Vinyl Manufacturing – Family Owned & Operated Since 1974 - Decent distributor for most mainstream items. Mid tier pricing (lower than alliance). Great all around source. The dist. arm of Record Stop stores in NY and SC
Redeye - Redeye - great prices, indie selection. Wont have Billie Eilish but distributes for a ton of smaller labels and has mainstream titles as well. definitely a great source.

Alright etiquette question…

Clearly this listing got hijacked after someone decided that the web store edition was the same as the dealer exclusive. I reached out to the og lister to verify color. Should I wait and let him respond/revert or should I just revert because it’s clearly wrong?

Moot point, after mentioning issue, new guy fixed.

@GentleSenator

I saw this forum thread - then saw it was based on your sub edit messages.

I've said in the past, if it's not an original release, it's a reissue, so I agree with you. This would be a reissue that happens to be a repress.

My feeling is that all represses are reissues - as they aren't the original releases. Since the tags are independent of each other, you still add the reissue tag when using the repress tag.

That was my hot take a while back

It seems to be an issue of semantics regarding "release", "issue", and "pressing"

Sellers: Did you know Discogs does Analytics? You can request this and more information on your store from your rep. This is one of 8 pages and its called a Sellers Handbook if you ask for it.

This is an interesting graph of how I compare to the greater market for revenue by genre.

I've learned
- I'm above the market in Rock, Jazz, and Hip Hop.
- That i do well in Pop, Country and stage and screen but the market is tiny. (which is surprising for Pop, since its called Pop)
- I need to step it up in electronic, Funk/Soul and Reggae to gain market share.

Guys, is there a quick way I can set up 2 addresses I can use in the Marketplace? Looks like some places don't like sending to Australia, so I was wondering if I could switch to a UK address at the click of a button? I know I can change my address in the settings, but don't want to do this every buying session.

I don’t think you can. I wanted to set up a second U.K. address too to avoid the new VAT mechanism but I was hitting brick walls and it seemed like setting up a second account just for the U.K. was the only way around it.
