Discogs - Help, Tricks, Secrets And Tips

The first part was what I was planning on doing, or basically telling them I was going to change the price of the item to cover the additional shipping. I'd rather not go too deep in the settings.
Yup discogs pricing is confusing. I have single LPs set for $4, but each additional LP is another $4, so I recently sold a 3xLP for $12 shipping and refunded the buyer because it was not going to be that much. I think it was like $5.30 with Media mail because it was just a double gatefold. Figuring out how to set pricing feels like an overly complicated excel formula.

I know. As much as I like the automated invoice feature I wish there was one last confirmation on my end before it goes out. Like a "hey this look good"?

I've told my rep every time we talk that they need to do carrier calculated shipping per order. That way what's important in a listing is the weight of each item + packing offset and the price is set. This way we, as sellers, don't have to jump through hoops and can easily sell internationally without doing the math for each region of the world.

I mean, really?

Edit: removed username, although you can see it on discogs. Trying to highlight the act not the prerson.
Wait so they’re giving you negative feedback for another order they made from a different seller? Lawd.

File a claim with discogs and they’ll remove it. I had to do something similar though it’ll still show on the removed feedback portion of your profile.

I've reached out to them and challenged with Discogs. Retaliating against me thinking it will hurt Discogs? Crazy.

Had a weird thing happen with my most recent order. I carted something a few days ago and checked out right away. Yesterday I got a payment reminder letting me know if I didn’t pay the order would be canceled and I would automatically get negative feedback. My first thought was that I must’ve not finished the process so I was going to check out again. Decided to check PayPal just to be sure and there was indeed a payment for the exact amount and with the exact discogs order number. I messaged them and they found the payment. Has this ever happened to anyone here?

Now that you mention it, since I've been on PayPal payments I've had more people apologize after a couple of days and they say they thought they had paid. I figured it was just an excuse instead of saying they were waiting for payday or forgot, but maybe its a glitch.

PayPal was sending me payment notifications a few days ago, for the same orders 2 and 3 times. Not the money, just the notifications unfortunately 😂

so ive had a seller not responding to my message mentioning defects and damage the record i bought has, for a week now.
US seller, so i can take thanksgiving into account. today i politely asked him to get back to me on the issues.

Discogs states you need to allow four days for a reply. Then tell cogs the seller isn't responding, and they will step in. But not as to a refund, they'll just threaten to suspend the seller. At that point you may start a dispute at PayPal, with a basis - the product was not as described and the seller isn't responding.

Basically do what you can to resolve the dispute yourself first. If that fails, you will look reasonable in the eyes of PayPal

Need some advice.

I listed a record on Discogs last night for $275.

Someone purchased it today and already paid via Paypal. It was nearly $300 after taxes. The buyer joined on November 4, 2021. Has 8 positive reviews for purchases. No other profile information. No collection listed, no avatar. Bare bones Discogs profile.

Would you all feel comfortable shipping this record to this person? I obviously do not want to be scammed.

What are the best ways to protect myself here? I said I was going to ship USPS Priority with insurance. I plan to take detailed photos of the record and jacket. And then a video of me packaging up the item.

Long-story short, I don't want to send this person a $275 album for them to come back and say "not as described" then file a Paypal claim against me. Also, the person's name on the Paypal is not the same as the person I am sending it to on Discogs. I am sending it to a woman, but the Paypal account was for a man (maybe husband/wife).
