Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

I've thought about tubes but didn't really know where to start. One question about the tube integrated. Would I still be able to connect my tape deck?
I think so. The Black Ice F22 has four inputs and a REC output, so you could both play from and record to a tape deck. Another option, the PrimaLuna EVO 100, also has four inputs and a TAPE OUT.

I think @HiFi Guy @AnthonyI @kvetcha @Splunders @HuddieLedbetter @apholden and of course @wooha to name just a few can better explain how their high-efficiency speakers benefit from tube amplification compared to SS.

Well for me, it's really more about the benefits of high efficiency speakers and the fact they don't need much power to fully open up or be loud.

Typically tube amps are lower powered compared to SS, so they become another option for HE speakers. I think @wooha is running his Zus off a 2.3 watt Decware amp to thundering levels IIRC. My preamp is technically an integrated amp with about 0.5 watt output. I can blow out my eardrums with that half watt thru my Zus. I might not get much volume at all out of a pair of 87db efficient speakers though.

In the end, it's still about what you prefer sonically, tubes or ss - HE speakers just allow for the most amplification options.

So I order two sets of Blue Jeans LC-1 cables to go between the turntable, phono stage, and receiver. I ordered them around noon my time yesterday. They arrived at 11 AM today.

That's less than 24 hours. AND they had to cross the border from Seattle up to Calgary. Could not be more impressed.

Also, the cables are super solid looking. Haven't tried anything yet (I work in a different room of the apartment, may spin something over lunch to test), but I can see why everyone here is such a big fan.

Wow that was fast! Where did you get them?

Right, but if someone asked me where I got my cables, I'm going to say Amazon. At www.amazon.com, not direct from www.bluejeanscables.com

Whatever. My point was that they’re not a company that you’re going to walk into your hifi dealer and buy from, they’re a company you’re buying directly from even if you chose to give Amazon marketplace a cut. I’d always give someone the companies own website if they were asking, let them keep the money and avoid giving a cut to Amazon.

just a super simple and dumb question before i get my magni 3+... reports have said that the 3+ gets pretty hot so i dunno whether to have the mani stacked on top of it or the magni stacked on top of the mani... the only major difference would be half 2 inches of cable and i wanna protect my carpeted floor from being set on fire (the mani has no feet so im nervous about ventilation)

I'd go Magni on top. If the 3+ is like my 3, there are vent holes on the top for heat. I've never felt my Mani under load but I don't think it gets really hot. Keep an eye on it regardless.

However, I always try to avoid stacking anything on/near my preamp, for signal clarity purposes. Good cables help but you may get interference if they are stacked.

Don’t ever put gear on a surface like carpet or upholstery or bedding. They cool by drawing in air from below and it warming up and venting out the top. You risk frying it if you put it on a surface like carpet that won’t let air get in from bellow.
